The 12th Southern Traditional Cake Festival in 2025 has the theme "Preserving and promoting the value of Southern traditional cakes in the integration period".
The festival has 231 booths, an increase of 31 booths compared to 2024, including 118 traditional cake booths, 59 regional specialty booths, 40 culinary booths and a cake making ingredients display area.
In particular, this year there is the participation of 18 provinces and cities across the country, more than previous years, creating a large space for cultural exchange.
For the first time, the festival recreates the Thuan Hung rice paper craft village, helping visitors experience the traditional process of making rice paper. Many unique products appear such as lobster-filled pancakes (100 pieces), the largest banh chung ever in the Mekong Delta (nearly 2m in size, 8 inches thick). Many festival tours are focused on organizing such as: experiencing the craft village, orchards, Can Tho cuisine, etc.
The festival also enhances the application of technology, such as scanning QR codes to look up prices, product information, and make transactions transparent. In addition, art programs, bonsai and ornamental plant displays, and cultural exchanges are invested in deeply, creating a diverse and attractive festival space.
At the press conference, some issues of particular concern included the parking fee not being clearly listed, the price difference of cakes and food at the booths being different and inconsistent. These are shortcomings that need to be resolved to ensure the rights of visitors and maintain the image of a civilized festival.
Receiving and explaining the opinions, the Organizing Committee added that this year's festival will mobilize about 250 police officers and soldiers and functional units to ensure security and order, avoiding chaos and insecurity at the festival area. At the same time, the work of checking and monitoring prices at the booths will also be carried out more strictly.
The festival takes place from April 4 to 8, 2025 at Binh Thuy District Square, Can Tho City, associated with the Hung Kings' Death Anniversary (March 10 of the lunar calendar) and the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
The event not only honors the spirit of national solidarity and pays tribute to generations of ancestors who sacrificed for independence and freedom, but also raises public awareness of national cultural heritage, arousing pride and responsibility in preserving and promoting national cultural identity.
