Are part-time and full-time university degrees of equal value?
According to the Law on Higher Education, higher education degrees in the national education system include bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, doctoral degrees and equivalent degrees.
Learners who complete the training program, meet the prescribed output standards, and fulfill their obligations and responsibilities will be awarded a diploma by the principal/director of the university/academy.
Decree 99 issued by the Government in 2019 stipulates that a bachelor's degree is a degree awarded to university graduates in accordance with the provisions of law, meeting the output requirements of English level 6 according to the Vietnamese National Qualifications Framework and specific, legal regulations of the training institution.
Thus, a recognized part-time university degree is equivalent to a regular university degree according to regulations.
However, students need to note that the subjects of the full-time and part-time programs are completely different. While the subjects of the part-time program are working people, the full-time program is for students. The study time of the part-time program mainly takes place in the evenings and on weekends, while the full-time program is on weekdays, with a fixed schedule.
