On July 27, at the auditorium of the Institute for Cultural Exchange with France (IDECAF) in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, the award ceremony for the painting contest "Asterix plays sports with young Vietnamese people" took place, co-organized by Kim Dong Publishing House and the French Institute in Vietnam.

According to Ms. Emmanuelle Charrier - Attaché for Cooperation and Cultural Activities, Director in Charge of the French Institute in Vietnam, this event takes place on the occasion of the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics and Paralympics, and on the occasion of the launch of three new volumes in the Astérix book series.

Astérix by two authors René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo is one of the comic series that left a strong impression on the hearts of many generations of readers in Vietnam.

Charrier believes that the story of the Gauls fighting against the Roman invaders has given the Astérix series global value. To date, the comic series has been translated into more than 110 languages, with more than 350 million copies published worldwide.

The painting contest "Asterix plays sports with young Vietnamese people" is a painting and lyrical contest about the character Astérix, open to all French literature lovers of school age (5 - 18 years old), taking place from May 15 to June 10.

Three young friends in Ho Chi Minh City won the prize: Tran Nguyen Anh Thu, Tran Khiet Ha and Nguyen Ro Cham Thao Vi.
