This is a meaningful activity in a series of events towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), to honor the great contributions of veterans in the cause of national reunification organized by Tien Phong newspaper.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Nga, Acting Chairwoman of the Saigon-Gia Dinh Military Region Special Forces Armed Forces Resistance Tradition Club, said that the club currently has nearly 1,700 members and 20 Liaison Committees. The club is active in preserving and promoting the revolutionary tradition of the Saigon-Gia Dinh Special Forces, however, most of the members are now old and in poor health.

Talking about a heroic and tragic period of the war years, female soldier Le Thi Chi (90 years old, currently living in District 10, Ho Chi Minh City) could not help but be moved, saying that if the enemy had captured her that day, she would have died.

“At that time, I was a revolutionary under the guise of a flour miller to feed the cadres and soldiers. One day in 1971, when I was coming home from work, my neighbors came to ask me what was going on that the police were surrounding me. Knowing that I had been discovered, I threw my bicycle away and ran away,” Ms. Chi said, adding that at that time, the enemy had captured her 5-year-old son to lure her into surrendering.

“I was a revolutionary, what does my son have to do with it? Surrendering now means death. The Party encouraged me to continue hiding and fighting until peace was restored, then mother and son could meet again,” Ms. Chi recalled with tears in her eyes.
Meanwhile, Huynh Thi Lien and Bui Van Loi also became husband and wife thanks to their participation in the revolution. During the resistance war, Mr. Loi was a special forces soldier and Ms. Lien was a liaison, guiding the resistance troops. In 1974, while pregnant with her first child, Ms. Lien still accepted the mission to go to serve the Ho Chi Minh campaign to liberate the South.

"More than a month after the Ho Chi Minh campaign was completely victorious, the country was unified, the son who joined me in the resistance war was born, my husband and I doubled our happiness," Ms. Lien recalled.
Hearing about the heroic fighting stages of the commandos, Mr. Tran Anh Dung - CEO of Hung Hau Development Joint Stock Company was moved and expressed his gratitude to the Saigon Commandos, who did not hesitate to sacrifice their blood and bones to fight for the independence and unification of the country today.

Tien Phong Golf Championship - Non song mot doi is a sports event combined with social activities, gathering 218 golfers from many localities, businesses and organizations organized by Tien Phong Newspaper in coordination with HST Investment and Development Company Limited, Long Bien Investment Joint Stock Company on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. The tournament will take place on April 27, 2025 at Tan Son Nhat Golf Course, Ho Chi Minh City. Through the tournament, the Organizing Committee hopes to raise funds to carry out activities to honor veterans, support families with meritorious services and contribute to the community.
During the tournament's activities, the Organizing Committee visited and presented gifts to 38 veterans of the Ho Chi Minh campaign and Saigon Special Forces soldiers, with a total value of nearly 200 million VND.
