- Proposal to set up a floor to suck 400 tons of gold from people's safes
Sharing at the seminar "Solutions for developing a safe and sustainable gold market" organized by the Government Electronic Information Portal, experts proposed changing the way gold trading activities are managed by establishing a gold trading floor, eliminating the monopoly to mobilize about 400 tons currently in people's safes (See more).
- Remittances nationwide reached 16 billion USD
On January 25, a leader of the Foreign Exchange Management Department - State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) said that in 2023, the amount of remittances will reach 16 billion USD, an increase of 32% compared to 2022. The amount of remittances sent home from 1993 to 2022 reached over 190 billion USD, almost equal to the amount of foreign direct investment (FDI) disbursed in the same period. According to data from SBV, remittances to Vietnam are over 10 billion USD each year (according to Tien Phong).

To ensure adequate supply of petroleum for the market, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assigned the Minister of Industry and Trade to monitor and grasp the situation of the world and domestic petroleum market; strengthen inspection and promptly adjust the allocation of total petroleum resources in accordance with the market situation. Vietnam's aviation market will stop losing money and fully recover by the end of 2024, following the general trend of the Asia-Pacific market, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said. It is forecasted that the total demand for air passenger transport in 2024 is estimated at about 84.2 million passengers, an increase of 15% compared to 2023 and an increase of 6% compared to 2019. - Da Nang will have a factory producing Boeing aircraft components
The Management Board of Da Nang High-Tech Park and Industrial Zones has just granted an investment registration certificate for the aviation components factory project. The investor of the project is KP AERO INDUSTRIES CO., LTD (Korea) with a total investment capital of 20 million USD. When put into operation, it will manufacture, process and assemble aircraft parts, including auxiliary power unit doors (APU Door), MIC tip (MIC tip), wing box (Wingbox), winglet (Winglet), flap support fairing (Flap support fairing) of Boeing 787 and Boeing 737 Max aircraft.
- The bank wants to sell 800 tons of ore to recover debt.
Agribank has just announced the auction of 500 tons of graphite ore of Vietnam Carbon & Graphite Company Limited and 300 tons of graphite ore of Lam Ngoc Investment and Trading Company Limited. These are collateral for loans at Agribank Tay Ho Branch. This amount of ore is in dry crystal form, packaged in bags and has been handed over to Agribank Tay Ho Branch for handling of collateral. - Van Thinh Phat Securities Company suffered heavy losses in 2023
The Van Thinh Phat Group ecosystem includes about 1,000 domestic and foreign subsidiaries and member companies, according to the investigation conclusion of the Ministry of Public Security. These companies are divided into 4 main groups that are closely related to each other. Of which, Tan Viet Securities Joint Stock Company (TVSI) belongs to the group's financial institutions in Vietnam, along with Saigon Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SCB). Tan Viet Securities in the Van Thinh Phat ecosystem lost more than 397 billion VND last year, "failing" the loss target of 570 million VND (according to Dan Tri).

Today, January 25, the world oil price continued to increase in the previous session, surpassing the 80 USD/barrel mark. Domestic oil prices were adjusted up by the Ministry of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Finance. Notably, the price of RON95 gasoline increased beyond the 23,000 VND/liter mark.
The stock market on January 25 recorded a decrease of 2.6 points for the VN-Index to 1,170.37 points. Most stocks fluctuated within a narrow range of less than 1% while order matching liquidity decreased.
The central exchange rate on January 25 was 24,031 VND/USD, up 1 VND compared to the previous session. The USD price at commercial banks on January 25 fluctuated little, listed at the end of the session at 24,400 VND/USD (buy) and 24,770 VND/USD (sell). The international USD price decreased slightly.
The world gold price today decreased sharply. Domestically, the price of SJC gold bars only decreased slightly by 200,000 VND/tael in both directions, still at a high level when it was more expensive by 15.5 million VND/tael.
Today's bank interest rates continue to see banks reduce their deposit interest rates. "Special interest rates" at some banks have also decreased according to the normal deposit interest rates, the highest level is 10%/year.
