In 1975, Binh Tuy province was located between Binh Thuan province (North), Long Khanh province (South) and Lam Dong province (West).
After Bao Loc, Phan Thiet and Xuan Loc were defeated by our army, on April 23, 1975, Binh Tuy province was completely liberated. The eastern front was opened, and the troops marched towards Saigon with unshakable momentum.

Nhan Dan Newspaper reported on this victory with the title "Completely liberating Ham Tan town and Binh Tuy province", with the following content:
"At exactly 10:00 a.m. on April 23, the liberation army and people completely controlled Ham Tan town and Binh Tuy province... Binh Tuy is the last province in the Central region and the 21st province in the South to be completely liberated."
On April 23, 1975, the 1st Corps Command reported the unit situation to the Front Command and received specific combat missions of the Corps. The 2nd Corps Command summoned agency officers and divisions, brigades, and regiments to the Command Center in Tam Hiep Hamlet, Xuan Hiep Commune, Long Khanh Province to receive the campaign missions of the units.
On the same day, units of the 3rd Corps, including the 10th Division, the 273rd Tank Regiment, the 234th Air Defense Regiment and the 7th Infantry Division, arrived at the assembly point in Dau Tieng district, preparing for the Ho Chi Minh Campaign.

Also on this day, the Ministry of National Defense decided to assign the General Department of Engineering to take over Cam Ranh base to organize it into a joint base to ensure technical and logistical support for the region under the general department. To serve the main force and technical weapons in the assembly position and prepare for combat, the petroleum troops also quickly deployed facilities to ensure the troops entered the battle.
Serving the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, the amount of materials consumed in the preparation phase (3,717 tons) was much greater than that consumed in the campaign implementation phase (1,826 tons). The petroleum troops organized well the takeover of the spoils of war petroleum facilities with a warehouse system with a capacity of 253,469 tons, collecting 121,228 tons of various types of petroleum.
On April 23, 1975, US President Rudolph Ford declared, "The war in Vietnam is over for America" and ordered the evacuation of Americans from Saigon.
