The Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board (MRB) has just informed about the work to overcome the phenomenon of tunneling additives being sprayed onto the ground in lane 7 Giang Van Minh, Kim Ma ward, Hanoi.
According to MRB, the incident was determined to have occurred at 4:00 p.m. tonight (February 20), arising from the process of drilling a tunnel using a TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) on the underground route of the Hanoi Pilot Urban Railway Project, Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station section. The location of the incident is at Lane 7 Giang Van Minh.
The phenomenon of tunneling additives appearing on the ground.
After inspection, the Investor - MRB Board, together with the consultant and contractor, inspected the site and initially determined that the cause could be due to the existence of old wells or sewers underground, which created a path for the tunneling additives to flow up to the surface (these old wells and sewers are no longer in use).
The investor has directed the consultant and contractor to clean up the drilled mortar; clean the surface of the area where the mortar was sprayed, ensuring safety and environmental hygiene in its original state. The above phenomenon does not affect the structure of the project, there is no damage to people or property.
Mr. Lee Young Kyeong, Deputy Project Director of Hyundai & Ghella Joint Venture affirmed: "The phenomenon of tunneling additives overflowing to the ground surface during the drilling process is a technical incident that was within the plan and was immediately controlled. The Joint Venture is committed to fully complying with technical standards and safety procedures, continuing to closely coordinate with the Investor and related units to ensure the construction process is safe and effective."
MRB is working closely with relevant units to accurately assess the cause and deploy technical measures to prevent similar incidents in the next phase.
