Handing over martyrs' relics and memorabilia to their relatives

On the morning of April 22, at the Provincial Military Command, the Department of Social Policy (General Department of Politics, Ministry of National Defense) coordinated with the Provincial Military Command to organize a ceremony to hand over relics and memorabilia of martyrs to their relatives.

Colonel Do Dai Cuong - Deputy Head of the Army Rear Department (Department of Social Policy) presided over the ceremony. Attending the ceremony were relatives of martyrs and families with meritorious services to the revolution.

Colonel Do Dai Cuong, representing the Department of Social Policy, handed over relics and memorabilia to the family of martyr Nguyen Van Ro.

In September 2024, after receiving an official dispatch from the Policy Department (now the Social Policy Department), the General Department of Politics on verifying relatives of soldiers going to B., the Provincial Military Command coordinated with the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs (now the Department of Home Affairs) to check and review the list and information of martyrs. Thereby, information about martyr Nguyen Van Ro was found. Hometown: Long Dien Commune, Gia Rai District, Minh Hai Province (now Long Dien Commune, Dong Hai District, Bac Lieu Province). He enlisted in February 1952; unit D9 E660 F338; position Deputy Platoon Leader. Martyr Nguyen Van Ro died in April 1966 (according to death certificate No. 12685 issued by the Minh Hai Provincial Military Command on April 10, 1993), with the Certificate of Merit No. DS 353 bm according to Decision No. 308 TTg dated May 24, 1995 of the Prime Minister.

The martyr's relative is Ms. Nguyen Yen Nhi (born in 1968, Rach Ran hamlet, Long Dien commune, Dong Hai district, Bac Lieu province) - a niece who calls the martyr "uncle".

At the ceremony, Colonel Do Dai Cuong - Deputy Head of the Army Rear Department (Department of Social Policy) handed over many relics and mementos of the martyrs to their families such as: death notices, notebooks; memorial photos, funeral processions, burials, and mourning scarves of the martyrs when his comrades died. At the same time, gifts were presented to families with revolutionary contributions in Bac Lieu province. On this occasion, the Provincial Military Command also presented gifts of gratitude to families of martyrs and people with meritorious services.

Receiving the relics and mementos of the martyr, Ms. Nguyen Yen Nhi emotionally expressed: “Our family is extremely moved and grateful to receive the relics and mementos of martyr Nguyen Van Ro, a loved one of our family, who sacrificed for the cause of national liberation and national reunification. The martyr has passed away forever, but his image and noble sacrifice will live forever. The relics and mementos that we received today are sacred memories of an outstanding son of our family and homeland, not only priceless assets of the family, but also historical evidence, contributing to educating the tradition of patriotism and revolution for today's young generation. We will preserve and cherish these relics and mementos, and continue to promote the revolutionary tradition of our family, living worthy of the noble sacrifice of the martyr”.

The Provincial Military Command presented flowers and gifts to express gratitude to families with revolutionary contributions.

After the handover ceremony of martyrs' relics and memorabilia, the Provincial Military Command continued to coordinate with agencies, units and localities to well implement policies and support the lives of martyrs' relatives and people with revolutionary contributions so that their material and spiritual lives would be better and better.
