Handing over pangolin to Tuyen Hoa Forest Protection Department

(QBĐT) - On April 11, Tuyen Hoa Forest Protection Department said: The unit has just received 1 pangolin (belonging to the Pholidota order), a rare wild animal species voluntarily handed over by local people.

Previously, Thanh Hoa Commune Police (Tuyen Hoa) received a pangolin voluntarily handed over by Mr. Nguyen Van Linh, in Bac Son village 2, Thanh Hoa commune.
According to Mr. Linh, on his way back from a trip, he discovered a wild animal caught in a net on the side of the road, so he caught it and brought it home. After doing some research, he learned that pangolins are rare wild animals that need to be preserved, so he took the initiative to bring them to the Commune Police to report and hand them over according to regulations.
After receiving it, Thanh Hoa Commune Police coordinated with Tuyen Hoa Forest Protection Department to carry out procedures to hand over and receive the pangolin for temporary care, complete the documents and procedures and hand it over to the Center for Rescue, Conservation and Development of Organisms (Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park) for release into the natural environment.

According to Tuyen Hoa Forest Protection Department, the pangolin weighed 1.5 kg, belongs to group IB, is a rare and endangered forest animal, is prioritized for protection and is strictly prohibited from exploitation, use, sale, and consumption in any form.
