On August 15, the Provincial Elderly Association's Representative Board had a working session with the Delegation of HelpAge International in Vietnam (HAI) on the implementation of the Project to Support Disadvantaged Elderly People through the Replication of Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs in Vietnam - Phase 2 (Project VIE085) in Ninh Binh province.
Implementing Project VIE085, in 2023-2024, HAI Organization has helped the Association of the Elderly (EC) of Ninh Binh province to establish 18 Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs in localities in the province. This is a model with profound humanity, helping many ECs in difficult circumstances receive help from the community, solve social security needs, and contribute to improving the care of the EC.
At the meeting, the two sides had specific discussions on cooperation plans and programs in the coming time. HAI committed to continue supporting the establishment of 9 Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs in localities of Ninh Binh province in 2025.
Next, the delegation visited the Intergenerational Club model in Tien Thon village, Yen Thai commune, Yen Mo district. Although it was only established in April 2024, the Club has implemented and carried out well activities in health care, income generation, culture, arts, visiting, exchange, home care based on volunteers, raising awareness, knowledge, self-help and community support...
The delegates attended the monthly meeting of the Club; discussed the implementation results and sustainability of the Club; visited the home care model for the elderly, the economic development model for the elderly... Thereby, helping the delegates have a realistic view of the Club's activities, share experiences, initial achievements, difficulties that need support for the Club to operate sustainably and expand in the future.
