On the afternoon of April 21, in Hanoi, the National Steering Committee against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods (SSC 389) held a national online conference to review the first quarter of 2025 and deploy tasks for the coming time. In the first quarter of 2025, the activities of buying, selling, transporting prohibited goods, smuggling, illegal transportation of goods, trade fraud and counterfeit goods across borders, land border gates, trails, border openings, sea borders, seaports, sea areas, and key inland areas are not too complicated; the situation of crimes and violations of the law on production and trading of counterfeit goods, goods infringing on intellectual property rights, goods violating product labels, trading in expired goods, goods of unknown origin, trading in smuggled goods, goods without invoices or documents, etc. continue to occur in most key areas of provinces and cities.

Implementing the direction of the Prime Minister and the National Steering Committee 389, the units took drastic action, arresting and handling 30,651 violations (down 0.77% over the same period). Of which, the functional forces discovered and arrested 6,754 cases of trading and transporting prohibited and smuggled goods (up 74.51% over the same period); 22,774 cases of trade fraud and tax fraud (down 11.06% over the same period); 1,113 cases of counterfeit goods and intellectual property violations (down 20.90% over the same period); collected more than 4,616.7 billion VND to the state budget (up 59.45% over the same period); prosecuted 1,328 cases (up 18.36% over the same period), 2,046 subjects (up 21.35% over the same period).

At the conference, delegates discussed and analyzed methods and tricks of trading in counterfeit, fake, poor quality goods, goods violating intellectual property rights; the situation of smuggling, buying and selling, and transporting prohibited goods on roads, sea routes, and border gates and border areas. At the same time, delegates also proposed and recommended solutions to improve the effectiveness of the fight against and prevention of illegal buying and selling of invoices, trading in counterfeit, fake, poor quality goods, etc.

Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the National Steering Committee 389 - Bui Thanh Son highly appreciated the great efforts of ministries, branches and localities in the work of preventing and combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeiting. At the same time, he pointed out many shortcomings and limitations such as: the situation of smuggled goods across the border is still very complicated and sophisticated; counterfeit and poor quality goods are still sold openly, directly affecting people's health; e-commerce operates openly without management documents...

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that, in the face of the current complicated situation of drug trafficking, smuggling and illegal transportation of gold, foreign currency and counterfeit goods of Vietnamese origin, the Steering Committee 389 of ministries, branches, provinces and cities urgently reviewed, improved and improved the quality of the Steering Committee, and at the same time developed appropriate programs, plans and solutions in the fight against drug trafficking, smuggling and illegal transportation of gold, foreign currency and goods with fake Vietnamese origin for export to other countries.
