Bamboo Airways is the most punctual airline during Tet At Ty peak season.

Vietnam's aviation industry has just experienced a busy first month of 2025, with the number of passengers traveling during the Lunar New Year period increasing to a record high, even exceeding the same period before the pandemic. In that context, the punctuality rate of the entire industry has decreased significantly, with only one airline maintaining an on-time rate of over 80%, Bamboo Airways.

Punctuality rate plummeted

According to preliminary statistics from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (Ministry of Transport), the average on-time performance of the entire Vietnamese aviation industry in January 2025 reached 60%, down 7.7 percentage points compared to the peak month of Tet Giap Thin (February 2024).

Of which, Bamboo Airways is the airline with the highest on-time rate, with 84.3% of flights on time in January 2025.

Airlines also recorded on-time performance rates above the industry average, including Pacific Airlines, VASCO, and Vietnam Airlines. Of these, Pacific had 74.9% of flights on time, Vietnam Airlines had 69% of flights on time, and VASCO had 68.5% of flights on time. Despite many objective challenges, Bamboo Airways maintains its performance

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the volume of air passenger transport during the Lunar New Year increased to a "record" high, especially at Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City. In just 9 days of Tet, the total volume of passenger transport in the whole market reached 2.5 million passengers, an increase of 17.8%. Of which, compared to the same period, international passengers increased by 23% to 1.35 million passengers; domestic passengers reached 1.14 million passengers, an increase of 12%.

Infrastructure overload due to high passenger numbers, along with adverse weather conditions such as fog and low clouds at some northern airports, are two major reasons for flight delays during the peak Tet holiday month, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.

Bamboo Airways maintained the highest on-time performance in the industry during the first peak passenger season of 2025.

“Faced with common difficulties, Bamboo Airways has synchronously deployed many modern solutions to improve operational processes, aiming to optimize on-time performance. This demonstrates the determination and strong efforts of the Bamboo Airways team to maintain its commitment to customers, bringing good quality services and satisfying flight experiences to our customers in the early spring of the new year,” said Bamboo Airways General Director Luong Hoai Nam.

Previously, according to preliminary statistics from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, in 2024, Bamboo Airways continued to maintain its punctuality with a high average punctuality rate of 83.7%, ranking in the top 2 in the industry and leading the 3 largest domestic airlines. This is a positive sign showing the recovery and stable development of Bamboo Airways after a period of strong restructuring.
