Difficult problem to solve when organizing music shows

The live concert celebrating 30 years of singing by singer Ha Tran (Tran Thu Ha) in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi has been canceled indefinitely.

"Debt on debt"

According to singer Ha Tran, her team spent 5 months practicing and in less than 2 weeks, the first night of the live concert "Tinh Ha Tinh Khoi" will take place. However, the team decided to stop because of lack of funds. This is sad, especially when Ha Tran is one of the singers recognized by the public.

Although quite shocked, the audience quickly understood and sympathized with this situation. Because the business problem in the entertainment industry, specifically organizing music shows, has never been easy to solve.

Ha Tran's "Pure Galaxy" was not invested by her. Producer Ha Thanh Phuc, who also organized the live show for singer Trung Quan, was the one who invested in the cost of this live concert.

In the current difficult context, spending a few billion VND to satisfy their passion for singing makes many artists have to consider. Many singers, like Dong Nhi, have had to sell assets for tens of billions of VND to cover the cost of producing live shows. Because the ticket sales are insignificant.

Singer Phuong Thanh revealed that after the live show "Doa Hong Thorn" (which took place 1 month ago), the profit she had left after deducting investment expenses was... 8 million VND. This is quite funny and bitter, but it is the truth.

Regarding the indefinite postponement of the live concert "Thien Ha Tinh Khoi", producer Ha Thanh Phuc said: "Too many unforeseen events have occurred, making our finances no longer sufficient. We hope everyone understands and will see you again when the financial situation is better."

Previously, to perform a live show for Trung Quan, Ha Thanh Phuc also announced "selling his house". "Doing it all" because of passion is a noble thing, but it is not necessarily welcomed or encouraged when in debt.

In fact, many young singers are "drowning" in debt because they have to borrow billions to make MVs (music videos), albums or organize live shows. With the mindset of "just borrow first and then sing to pay off the debt gradually", many singers have invested large sums of money in MVs to have a grand, impressive product, hoping that it will be a "passport" for the show organizers to pay attention and invite them to perform. However, the difficult economic situation, producers cannot balance the income and expenditure, causing the number of performances to gradually decrease.

A star singer admitted: "Before, sometimes I performed several shows a day, but now, I'm lucky to perform two shows a week. In previous years, the company organized a lot of shows, singers didn't have time to accept performances, but now it's very quiet." This also explains why many young singers are "in debt" even though they have had great albums and are getting noticed.

Smart and sharp

However, it is not rare for live shows to sell out before they are officially released, such as those of Ha Anh Tuan, Noo Phuoc Thinh, My Tam... Even when held in other countries such as Singapore or Australia, tickets to Ha Anh Tuan's live shows are still "sold out".

According to experts, to survive in today's entertainment industry, singers need to be not only talented but also smart and sharp. Ha Anh Tuan is a typical example. His live shows are packed with audiences everywhere.

In addition to the loyal "fans" who are always ready to follow their idol, Ha Anh Tuan also has the valuable contribution of the brand for which he is the face. The win-win cooperation (both sides benefit) helps Ha Anh Tuan quickly sell show tickets. The advertising brand will also have a "luxury gift" for its customers by going abroad to watch the live show.

Vietnamese artists who organize live concerts must be very brave and have a good foundation to realize their ambitions. The foundation here is to have a loyal fan community, willing to spend money and the artist's appeal is large enough to have a sponsor. There are not many singers like that at the moment, such as: Ha Anh Tuan, My Tam, Den Vau, Noo Phuoc Thinh, Ho Ngoc Ha...

There are only a few people who are successful in organizing shows like director Tran KiKi. This director expressed: "Being a producer organizing live shows and concerts for singers nowadays is not easy. I am also having to figure it out, sometimes I have to make up for losses on my journey."

Meanwhile, many entertainment companies have closed down after a few shows, typically the company that brought Bi/Rain to Vietnam to perform a few years ago. After the show, this company disappeared from the entertainment industry. Or like after the show that brought Ariana Grande to Vietnam failed, the production unit also lost interest in the entertainment industry...

Reality shows that not many Vietnamese singers can directly confront and convince audiences to buy tickets to their shows when they step out of the studio. Many artists have been disillusioned by this ambition. Some singers are really "hot" on digital music platforms, causing shock with their statements... but when they step out to do shows, they often receive humiliating results.

This is also the reason why many singers/rappers can be very famous for a long time but still cannot have their own live concert.
