My dream of conquering the Olympia competition began in elementary school.

Since elementary school, Kien has enjoyed watching the "Road to Olympia" competition, admiring the contestants with their extensive knowledge. Kien dreamed of one day setting foot on the "Road to Olympia" stage. His desire grew stronger, and at the beginning of middle school, Kien prepared a solid foundation of knowledge, ready to fulfill his dream.

Still visibly moved, Kien's mother, Tran Thi Bich Loan (48 years old), shared: "Since he was little, Kien told my husband and me that when he grew up, he would compete in the 'Road to Olympia' competition. At that time, Kien was very young, but he was very determined to pursue his dream and focused on his studies. Seeing that, the family strongly supported him and decided to accompany him on his journey to fulfill his dream."

Kien prepared meticulously for the competition, often studying until he lost track of time. After classes, he would find an empty study room and study until late at night, sometimes even falling asleep. With his self-study spirit and the dedicated support of his teachers, along with a solid foundation of knowledge, Kien confidently conquered the Olympia competition.

In September 2023, when the "Road to Olympia" competition released registration forms, Kien decided to apply for the second filming session. One month after submitting his application, Kien received an interview notification from the program, becoming a contestant on "Road to Olympia".

Kien participated in the second week's exam and came in second with 260 points. At this point, the student from Phu Yen still had to wait for the results of the third week's exam to determine the highest-scoring second-place finisher, which would determine the remaining spot in the monthly exam.

The small, one-story house and grocery store in Hoa Dong commune (Tay Hoa district, Phu Yen province) is where Trung Kien, a man of great character, was nurtured.

"I tried my best in the weekly competition, and I felt quite disappointed. Olympia is my dream, the support and expectations of my family and teachers, and I didn't want to disappoint anyone. I had to wait for the results of week 3 to determine if the second-place spot would be mine. Luckily, I got the ticket to the monthly competition," Kien recounted.

Entering the third monthly competition, Kien continued to finish second with the highest score of 165 points, securing his place in the first quarterly competition. Regarding his two second-place finishes, Kien shared: "I really admire Messi of the Argentinian national football team. Finishing second twice in a row feels a little disappointing, but I think failure will make me stronger. Like Messi, in 2014, he finished second on the verge of winning the World Cup; in 2015, he finished second again in the Copa America final. And then, in 2021 and 2022, Messi won the Copa America and the World Cup. This story motivates me to win the first quarterly competition and, even further, the annual final."

Following his son's victory in the first quarter-final competition and the first-ever live broadcast of the "Road to Olympia" final to be brought to Phu Yen, Mr. Tran Trung Luu (50 years old, Kien's father) choked with joy: "It's truly beyond imagination, I don't know how to describe this feeling. I really hoped Kien would achieve the highest result, but I also knew that my son was from a district school, so of course he would have more limitations than the other contestants. The other contestants were very good. I think Kien's victory was partly due to luck."

To prepare well for the final, Kien still went to school every day and didn't come home until late at night.

Speaking about her student, Ms. Tran Thi Le Thuy, Principal of Le Hong Phong High School (Tay Hoa District, Phu Yen Province), couldn't hide her joy: "Kien is a very studious, diligent, and humble student. Having excellently secured a place in the final round this year, Kien has become the first person to bring the 'Road to Olympia' televised competition to our province. This is a great honor and source of pride for Le Hong Phong High School in particular and Phu Yen Province in general."

"To best prepare for the final, the school has established a committee to provide Kien with academic support at any time. There's a long time until the final, and I hope Kien maintains a clear mind and good health. Regardless of the outcome, Kien will still be a source of pride for Phu Yen in the Road to Olympia final," Ms. Thuy said.
