“Doctor in exile” is not only an entertaining work with breathtaking medical details, but also a vivid, heartbreaking slice of life for those living far from home. The film is being broadcast exclusively on K+ at 9pm every Saturday and Sunday.
Since its first episode aired on March 8, “Doctor Abroad” has quickly risen to the top of Taiwan’s TV drama rankings. According to data from Chinatimes, the number of people registering online to watch the series has skyrocketed by 60% compared to the previous week.

The film is a realistic picture of the journey to make a living of Dr. Pham Van Ninh (played by Vietnamese actor Lien Binh Phat). Once a promising specialist in his home country, upon arriving in Taiwan, he fell into a cruel spiral of life. Without a license to practice, Ninh was forced to do the most extreme jobs, from menial chores to risking his conscience to steal medical equipment, with only one burning desire - to save a life.
However, despite his struggles in a foreign land, Dr. Ninh's kind heart still burns brightly. He does not hesitate to share his little money, drenched in sweat, to help his fellow countrymen in need. He also devotes himself to treating people with his precious medical knowledge, despite the risk of being exposed and facing the law.

It is Ninh's steadfast heart and selfless sharing that has become a beacon of light, warming the hearts of those living far from home in foreign lands. Not only Ninh, but each character in "Doctor in exile" has their own story, a secret pain, touching the emotions of the audience.
In addition to its profound content, the film also attracts attention because it has a cast of talented actors from both Vietnam and Taiwan. Alongside Vietnam's Lien Binh Phat, Taiwanese actress Truong Quan Ninh impresses with her role as neurosurgeon Trinh Uyen Binh, a strong, responsible woman who is still dedicated to her surgery even when about to give birth. Not only is she a doctor, she is also a mother - someone who has to face pain and guilt every day for her son with cerebral palsy.
To truly embody her role, before filming began, Truong Quan Ninh spent a lot of time thoroughly researching every aspect of the medical profession, helping her scenes to be well-rounded, emotional, and realistic.
