Bac Ninh established a Steering Committee for the management and development of social housing.

The People's Committee of Bac Ninh province has just issued a Decision to establish the "Steering Committee for the Management and Development of Social Housing in Bac Ninh Province" (Steering Committee). The Decision of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province clearly states that the Steering Committee has the function of researching, proposing to the People's Committee of the province and assisting the People's Committee of the province in directing the implementation of policies, mechanisms, and strategies, creating a legal environment to effectively promote the development of social housing in the province.

Assist the Provincial People's Committee in directing departments, branches and localities to implement goals, tasks and solutions on social housing development; coordinate the implementation of inter-sectoral programs, mechanisms, policies, projects, and solutions on social housing development in the province.

Direct and closely monitor the management and supervision of investment, construction, sale, lease, and use of apartments in social housing projects, promptly prevent and strictly handle violations and policy abuses.

According to the decision, the Steering Committee consists of 16 members, with Vice Chairman of Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee Dao Quang Khai as Head of the Committee; Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung - Director of Bac Ninh Provincial Department of Construction as Permanent Deputy Head of the Committee.

It is known that this is the first provincial-level Steering Committee for social housing management and development in the country established to effectively promote the development of social housing for the locality.

The establishment of the Steering Committee demonstrates the determination of Bac Ninh province in implementing the Government's project "Investing in the construction of at least 1 million social housing apartments for low-income people and industrial park workers in the period of 2021-2030". This is an important task of great social significance, contributing to ensuring social security, stabilizing people's lives and promoting socio-economic development of the province.

As of March 2024, Bac Ninh province is the locality with the largest number of completed social housing projects and social housing projects started in the country with 10 and 15 projects, respectively.

Bac Ninh province is also the first locality in the country to have a one-stop support center for social housing projects (located in Yen Phong Industrial Park) which provides free support and consultation on preferential policies of the State, procedures for home purchase, loan procedures, and answers questions for workers and laborers in social housing in Bac Ninh province who want to buy or rent houses in social housing projects.

According to the Project “Investing in the construction of at least 1 million social housing apartments for low-income earners and industrial park workers in the period of 2021-2030,” from now until 2030, Bac Ninh province plans to develop more than 70,000 social housing units. Of which, more than 40,000 units will be for workers.

Bac Ninh province has identified about 175 hectares of land for investment in building basic social housing to meet assigned development targets and plans.

Statistics show that, up to now, Bac Ninh province has announced a list of projects eligible for preferential loans, including 6 projects with a total investment of more than 14,500 billion VND, and the expected loan capital is about 3,380 billion VND.

Currently, Bac Ninh province has 2 social housing projects that have received preferential loans with an approved loan limit of 170 billion VND and has disbursed 115.2 billion VND.
