According to Australian news agency ABC News , the talks will be an opportunity for Prime Minister Albanese to address China's recent intercontinental ballistic missile test in the Pacific as well as Canberra's concerns about security and trade.

According to China's Xinhua news agency, during the meeting, Prime Minister Li Qiang affirmed that China is willing to cooperate with Australia to protect peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region through concrete actions.

Assessing recent bilateral relations, Mr. Ly Cuong said that the two countries have made steady progress, with practical cooperation gradually developing in many fields, along with increasingly vibrant exchanges between localities and people.

According to the Chinese premier, these developments show that the future of Beijing-Canberra relations is promising, as long as both sides continue to work towards common goals.

Noting that the nature of bilateral relations is mutually beneficial cooperation, the Chinese government leader stressed that Beijing is willing to strengthen exchanges with Canberra on macroeconomic policies, expand cooperation in trade and investment, green growth, scientific and technological innovation, and many other areas, to promote the common development of the two countries.

For his part, after the end of the talks, Australian Prime Minister Albanese posted on social network X that this was "an important meeting as we continue to stabilize our relationship with China".

"The government has been working to remove trade barriers and we have agreed on a timetable to fully restore the lobster trade by the end of this year, in time for the Lunar New Year," he said.

The move signals the end of a politically motivated trade war between the two countries. The leader also affirmed that dialogue is the way to "resolve differences and develop areas of cooperation without affecting any Australian interests."
