Bac Kan acts to save energy today, benefits for tomorrow

BBK - In the context of increasingly serious global climate change, Earth Day 2025 is an opportunity for countries around the world as well as mountainous provinces that are implementing green and sustainable economic development strategies such as Bac Kan to affirm: Saving energy, small actions but bringing great value for today and the future.

The project of lighting up rural roads using solar energy was jointly implemented by the Electricity sector and other agencies in many communes in the province.

Bac Kan is a mountainous province with complex terrain, uneven population distribution, and many places still face difficulties in the power grid. In recent years, with investment from the electricity industry and determination from authorities at all levels, thousands of households have been lit up by the national electricity grid. However, it cannot be denied that the problem of energy security, especially in the dry season for industrial production, processing and daily life, is still a big challenge.

In that context, saving electricity is not just a slogan, but has become a practical action, associated with community awareness, social responsibility and long-term development orientation of the locality.

The Electricity Industry regularly organizes campaigns to promote electricity saving to people and businesses.

In the context of increasing demand for electricity, especially in the hot season, ensuring safe, stable and economical electricity supply has become a major challenge for the electricity industry. Bac Kan Power Company (PC Bac Kan) has proactively implemented many measures to adjust electricity load, a smart solution that not only helps balance supply and demand but also spreads the spirit of using electricity economically and effectively throughout society.

From the beginning of 2025, PC Bac Kan has soon developed a load adjustment plan suitable to the actual situation of the locality. According to Mr. Nguyen Hong Manh, Deputy Director of the Company, the load adjustment plan is built in the direction of: prioritizing not affecting production and business; minimizing rotating power outages; and promoting people and businesses to use electricity intelligently. Load adjustment is not a power outage, but a re-distribution of electricity demand into more reasonable time frames.

Reviewing and checking equipment and lines is a measure to reduce power loss and improve production and business efficiency of the Electricity industry.

To raise public awareness in saving energy and protecting the environment Through activities responding to the Earth Hour Campaign, in March, the province has implemented many practical activities. In which, the Department of Industry and Trade coordinated with the Provincial Youth Union and Bac Kan Electricity Company to organize the launching ceremony to respond to the campaign in Bang Lung town, Cho Don district with the participation of many people. At the same time, 150 energy-saving light bulbs were donated and replaced for poor households and policy families. 20 solar light bulbs were installed. lighting the country roads. In particular, calling for power outages for 1 hour saved 4.85 MW, equivalent to 4,850 kWh.

Not only implementing technical measures, PC Bac Kan also pays special attention to propaganda and mobilizing the community to use electricity economically and effectively. Communication activities are widely deployed to each residential area, school, business, office... through many forms: radio, television, social networks, leaflets, posters, billboards...

During the peak of the dry season, PC Bac Kan launched “Energy Saving Week” with the message “Turn off devices when not in use – open a sustainable future”, attracting thousands of responses. Many households shared that using electricity economically not only reduces electricity bills but also demonstrates responsibility to the community, contributing to protecting the living environment.

In administrative agencies, many units have applied regulations on reasonable electricity use: Turning off electricity outside working hours, taking advantage of natural light, using electrical equipment with energy-saving labels. In the residential community, the movement "Saving electricity for the community" is spreading, encouraging people to install solar water heaters, turn off electrical equipment when not in use and choose to buy electrical equipment that meets energy efficiency standards.

In particular, Bac Kan Electricity Company has deployed digital technology and smart metering systems to help people monitor their hourly electricity consumption, thereby adjusting their electricity usage habits more reasonably. This is an important step in helping to shift from “emotional saving” to “data-supported saving”, the direction of the future.

Saving energy not only helps reduce living costs, but also reduces greenhouse gas emissions, contributes to protecting a clean living environment, and maintains the natural ecosystem that is the "green lung" of the entire Northeast region.

Bac Kan has great potential for sustainable development based on the principle of “green growth”. But to achieve that, it is indispensable to have the cooperation of the people, businesses and the entire political system.

This year’s Earth Day is a clear reminder: our planet needs change from the smallest actions. And Bac Kan, with its aspiration for development associated with the environment, is gradually realizing the message: “Save today – safe tomorrow – sustainable forever”./.
