During this heat wave, the highest temperature in the Northeast region is commonly between 35-38 degrees Celsius; the highest temperature in the Northwest region is commonly between 36-39 degrees Celsius; and the highest temperature in the Central region is commonly between 36-39 degrees Celsius.

Commenting on the weather in the coming time, Head of Weather Forecast Department - National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting Nguyen Van Huong said that from May 14-31, the Northern and Central regions are likely to experience 1-2 heat waves and severe heat waves over a wide area.

During this heat wave, the Northeast region has the highest temperature commonly ranging from 35-38 degrees Celsius; the Northwest region has the highest temperature commonly ranging from 36-39 degrees Celsius. The Central region has the highest temperature commonly ranging from 36-39 degrees Celsius.

In the mountainous region of the West Central region, the highest temperature is commonly 39-41 degrees Celsius, with some places above 42 degrees Celsius. The North Central region warns of a very dangerous risk of forest fires (level V).

The Central Highlands and the South from May 14-23 will still experience hot weather with the highest temperature commonly ranging from 35-38 degrees Celsius. In the second half of May 2024, the above areas will have rain and the heat will gradually decrease.

In addition, the Northern region will have rain, moderate rain, heavy rain, and thunderstorms from the night of May 15 to May 16; from May 19 to 20, there will be showers, thunderstorms, and locally heavy rain.

The area from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue from the night of May 15 to May 16 and from May 20 to 21 will have showers, thunderstorms, and locally heavy rain.

The Central Highlands and the South will have scattered showers and thunderstorms from May 16-23. Thunderstorms in these areas will be concentrated in the late afternoon and at night. During thunderstorms, beware of the high risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

In the face of the above weather patterns, people need to regularly monitor forecast and warning information on the website of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting at nchmf.gov.vn , provincial, municipal and regional Hydro-Meteorological Stations; at the same time, regularly update the latest hydro-meteorological forecast information on the official mass media of the Central and local levels to proactively respond.

The government and relevant agencies need to promptly provide disaster forecast information to the people, mobilize, propagate and implement an absolute ban on people's activities in areas at high risk of thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail, etc.
