According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on January 8, the North will have scattered fog and light fog in the early morning, with scattered rain during the day, with scattered rain in the mountainous and midland areas. The highest temperature will generally be between 19 and 22 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the Central Highlands and the South will have sunny days and no rain at night.
Regarding the cold air movement, on the morning of January 8, the cold air mass was reported to be moving south.
On land, around January 9, this strengthened cold air mass will affect the Northeast region, then the North Central region and some places in the Northwest and Central Central regions. From the night of January 10, the cold air mass will continue to strengthen and affect other places in the Northwest and Central Central regions, some places in the South Central region. The Northeast wind inland will gradually strengthen to level 2-3, and coastal areas to level 3-4.

From the afternoon of January 9, the Gulf of Tonkin, the central East Sea, the sea from Quang Tri to Khanh Hoa, the Northeast wind increased to level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8-9, rough seas, waves 3-6 m high.
Due to the influence of cold air strengthening from the night of January 9, the area from Ha Tinh to Binh Dinh will have rain, showers and scattered thunderstorms, locally heavy rain; thunderstorms are likely to have tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.
Thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind can affect agricultural production, break trees, damage houses, traffic works and infrastructure. Localized heavy rain can cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes. Strong winds and large waves at sea can affect the operation of ships and other activities.

From the afternoon of January 8, the Gulf of Tonkin, the sea area from Quang Tri to Phu Yen and the central East Sea will have northeast winds gradually increasing to level 6, gusting to level 7-8, rough seas, and waves from 2-4.5 m high. The risk of natural disasters due to strong winds at sea is level 2. All vessels operating in the above areas are at high risk of being affected by tornadoes, strong winds and large waves.
