Ms. Truong My Lan demands 2,500 billion VND, Novaland says 'baseless'

On October 3, Novaland Group spoke out about Ms. Truong My Lan's request that Novaland pay 2,500 billion VND in cash related to the Tan Thanh Long An project to remedy the consequences of the case.

Accordingly, Novaland said that in 2022, Novaland Group cooperated as the developer of the Viet Phat industrial park and urban area project, with Tan Thanh Long An Investment Joint Stock Company as the investor, when the project's legal documents were completed. However, during the implementation phase of some initial activities for the project, Tan Thanh Long An Company requested Novaland Group to temporarily suspend the development of this project.

Novaland said that this enterprise did not receive authorization or have any other cooperation with Tan Thanh Long An Company in investment and business activities and the issuance of bond packages.

"In the trial of the Van Thinh Phat Group criminal case on October 1, Ms. Truong My Lan's proposal to negotiate with Novaland Group about the amount of VND 2,500 billion to remedy the consequences of the case related to Tan Thanh Long An Company and Viet Phat project is completely baseless," Novaland explained.

In addition, regarding information about the An Dong bond package and the Liberty hotel chain, Novaland Group also stated that it has absolutely nothing to do with the issuance and use of the bond package or the transfer of the project.

Previously, during the second phase of the Van Thinh Phat case, when the jury asked Ms. Truong My Lan about assets, shares, and seized assets, Ms. Lan mentioned shares in projects that were being frozen and seized. For the Tan Thanh Long An project, Ms. Lan requested Novaland to pay VND 2,500 billion in cash to remedy the consequences of the case.

Tan Thanh Long An is one of the enterprises whose assets were frozen by the investigation agency in the Van Thinh Phat case, phase 1. This is the investor of the project to build and operate the infrastructure of Viet Phat industrial park in Long An province with an area of ​​over 1,800 hectares, of which the land area for the industrial park is over 1,200 hectares, and the land area for the urban area is over 625 hectares.

On October 9, 2022, Novaland held a ceremony to announce the development and investment promotion of the 625-hectare Suntec project. This urban area is located in the Viet Phat industrial park and urban area project.

In phase 1 of the Van Thinh Phat case, Novaland Group was invited to participate in the trial as a party with related rights and obligations. However, Novaland sent a document stating that it was focusing on restructuring, so it sent a document to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court and was approved by the court to not participate in the trial.
