VTC NewsVTC News22/12/2023

In 1991, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province was re-established on the basis of Vung Tau - Con Dao Special Zone. When the province was re-established, the most beautiful road in Vung Tau city was Ha Long road. This 3.8km long road along the coast has only about 800m of asphalt road which is quite good. The rest is gravel road, bumpy and uneven potholes.

30 years later, Ba Ria - Vung Tau is ranked among the provinces and cities with the most synchronous road infrastructure and the most beautiful roads in Vietnam. The remarkable development of the coastal city shows the effectiveness and correctness of the local socio-economic development policies and strategies as well as the State's decisions on the city, which is considered one of the most livable places in the Southern region.

From a swamp to a province with the most beautiful roads in Vietnam

Coming to Vung Tau city and Ba Ria city, tourists hardly see traffic jams. In rural areas, village roads and alleys are like a chessboard, spacious and clean, reducing travel time for people.

Many backbone roads and main routes of the province have been upgraded such as National Highway 51, National Highway 55, National Highway 56. Main roads connecting districts and communes in the province with large traffic volumes have also been asphalted such as: Provincial Road 328, 329, Lang Cat - Long Son Road, Provincial Road 44, 52, Phuoc Buu - Ho Tram Road...

The My Xuan - Ngai Giao - Xuan Son road from National Highway 51 through Chau Duc district and then to Xuyen Moc, which was originally a dirt road with many potholes, has now become a level 4 plain road with a hot asphalt concrete surface. In particular, My Xuan road was once ranked as one of the "Beautiful rural roads in Vietnam".

Provincial Road 328 also won second prize in the Vietnam Beautiful Road contest in 1999. Quang Trung - Ha Long Road (Front Beach, Vung Tau) became the most beautiful urban road in Vietnam in 2001.

In addition to the roads that won major awards, Vung Tau also owns many beautiful coastal roads that captivate tourists. Typically, the coastal road connecting Vung Tau to Xuyen Moc has become a check-in point for many young people and backpackers.

Not only that, the province also actively implements urban construction projects such as: Parks, street lights, median strip decoration, inner-city bridges... creatively and beautifully associated with local identity to create a unique image.

In 2021, Vung Tau City's Front Beach and Back Beach were installed with a bright high-pressure road system, serving the needs of swimming, playing and entertaining of residents and tourists at night. Many parks have been invested in renovating the paved yard, arranging lighting, decorative lights, making walkways in the park, renovating trees to create a landscape for people to enjoy a "green - clean - beautiful" urban life.

Positive changes help Ba Ria - Vung Tau achieve its goal of basically meeting the standards to become a centrally-governed city by 2030, with the areas of Vung Tau, Ba Ria, Phu My, Long Dien, and Long Hai meeting the criteria of a class I urban area.

" If there are roads and electricity, there will be development. A series of industrial parks, seaports, tourist areas, and economic zones in Ba Ria - Vung Tau are prosperous today thanks to the water and road transport network ," affirmed Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Tuan Minh.

Projects "connecting the happy shore"

In Action Plan No. 58/KH-UBND on the implementation of Resolution No. 24-NQ/TW, Ba Ria - Vung Tau sets out the key task of implementing the Directive of the Provincial Party Standing Committee on mobilizing all resources to invest in the synchronous construction of a multi-modal, regional, regional and world-wide transport infrastructure system.

Recognizing the importance of transport infrastructure in the development process of the locality in particular and the country in general, the work of improving technical infrastructure and social infrastructure has been gradually invested according to the planning in Ba Ria - Vung Tau.

Recently, many key projects of the country have been simultaneously started such as Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway, Phuoc An Bridge, DT 994 Road... Traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Ba Ria - Vung Tau is also shortened thanks to the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway and the extended Highway 319.

Accordingly, the distance from Ho Chi Minh City to Vung Tau city is only 95 km instead of 120 km with about 1 hour and 20 minutes of travel.

With the expectation of building key routes with further connections so that the economy can continue to "take off", Ba Ria - Vung Tau has proposed that the Ministry of Transport and the Vietnam Railway Authority adjust the investment planning progress of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau railway line, the Bien Hoa - Phu My section in the period of 2021 - 2030 as a basis for early implementation.

Accelerating logistics infrastructure synchronization

Resolution No. 24-NQ/TW dated October 7, 2022 of the Politburo on "Socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in the Southeast region to 2030, with a vision to 2045" has set the goal that by 2030, "the Southeast will become a dynamically developing region with a high economic growth rate, the largest growth driver in the country; a center of science - technology and innovation, high-tech industry, logistics and a highly competitive international financial center in the region".

To achieve the above goal, Ba Ria - Vung Tau focuses on attracting investment in infrastructure development in the province in the area of Phu My town and Vung Tau city. If Vung Tau is oriented to become a high-quality, international-class tourism center, Phu My will become a highly competitive industrial - service - urban center, with an open, youthful, vibrant ecosystem and the breath of the digital age.

Ba Ria - Vung Tau also actively creates a policy corridor to encourage the establishment of logistics service enterprises in the province, supporting the development of logistics service enterprises according to the motto of modernity and professionalism to ensure competitiveness in the domestic market.

Identifying seaports and logistics as one of the four pillars of economic development of the province, Ba Ria - Vung Tau is gradually modernizing Cai Mep - Thi Vai international gateway port into a large international transit port of Asian and world stature, linked to the Moc Bai - Ho Chi Minh City - Bien Hoa - Vung Tau economic corridor and the Trans-Asia economic corridor.

Developed transport infrastructure is the foundation for Ba Ria - Vung Tau to become the logistics center of the Southeast region.

Developed transport infrastructure is the foundation for Ba Ria - Vung Tau to become the logistics center of the Southeast region.

Currently, Cai Mep - Thi Vai is one of the two special seaports in the country, capable of receiving ships with a tonnage of up to 250,000 tons. This is also the only port cluster in Vietnam with direct mother ships to Europe and America and has attracted many of the world's leading corporations in the maritime sector such as SSA Marine Group - USA, PSA Group - Singapore, APMT Group - Denmark, Hutchison Port Holding Group - Hong Kong... to participate in investment and exploitation.

To maximize the potential of Cai Mep - Thi Vai port, Ba Ria - Vung Tau is focusing resources on solving bottlenecks in transport infrastructure connecting the port, paying attention to developing logistics infrastructure after the port such as distribution centers, depots for trucks, empty containers, dry ports, etc.

The province also upgraded and dredged waterways to facilitate large ships docking at the port. Port services such as customs, quarantine, and financial insurance were optimized to create synchronization.

In addition, the province is planning to develop logistics infrastructure in conjunction with commercial infrastructure and information technology infrastructure, applying artificial intelligence, and connecting high technology. This will help form a close connection between the special national seaport system and Long Thanh international airport. From there, a logistics service ecosystem will be formed, including a complete system of warehouses, dry ports, logistics centers, shipping agents, maritime brokerage agents, etc.

The synchronization in transport infrastructure, logistics, and seaports increasingly helps Ba Ria - Vung Tau create a strong momentum, creating an international-class urban picture, in harmony with the world's development.
