On October 21, leaders of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province worked with relevant departments to hear reports on the investment plan for Vung Tau International Passenger Port.

According to the report of the PORTCOAST - TEDIPORT - HPEC consulting consortium, the passenger port location is determined to be adjacent to the cable car station complex in the Front Beach area (Vung Tau City).
The scale includes a passenger terminal combined with a duty-free shop; hotel office and tourist apartments; marina; taxi and bus parking; technical infrastructure works, landscape, wharf, embankment, breakwater; public port area, pilotage. The passenger wharf includes 1 wharf allowing berthing on both sides, meeting the needs of ships of 225,000 - 228,000 GT (or larger when qualified).
The total length of the wharf is 420m, of which the passenger deck is 120m long and the wharf is connected to the shore by a 700m long approach bridge. Inside, there are marinas, public service docks, maritime services for pilots and port authorities. The seaplane dock is located separately in the East and Southeast. The entire project has a total investment of about 8,000 billion VND, and is considered to be the largest in the Southern region.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Tho, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, assigned the Department of Planning and Investment to coordinate with the Department of Transport to find a way to select investors through auction. The Department of Transport will complete the pre-feasibility project dossier in October 2024. Then, propose to organize a consultation with investors interested in the project before submitting it to the competent authority for approval.
It is known that, regarding this content, previously on May 20, the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province worked with Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Xuan Sang and the working delegation of the Ministry of Transport on detailed planning of land and water areas of seaports, investment in construction of general and container ports in Cai Mep Ha area.

At the meeting, local units agreed on the location for the construction of Vung Tau international passenger port in Cau Da and Bai Truoc areas (next to the existing Cau Da port). This international passenger port was also approved by the Ministry of Transport to adjust the old planning, providing a basis for implementation.
