The head of the Japanese peacekeeping expert team assessed CEPPP as a special, unprecedented event with the coordination of three forces studying and practicing together: military observers, engineers and military medics.
On the afternoon of September 21, on the International Day of Peace, at the National Military Training Center 4 (Hanoi), the closing ceremony of the capacity assessment program for forces preparing to participate in United Nations peacekeeping operations of the 4th cycle of peacekeeping experts (2021 - 2023) took place.
This is an activity co-chaired by Vietnam and Japan, within the framework of the ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting Plus (ADMM+).
Promoting cooperation and enhancing peacekeeping capacity
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan - Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army - highly appreciated the efforts and contributions of all 18 international delegations from ADMM+ member countries to the success of CEPPP 2023 .
He assessed that the peacekeeping forces of ADMM+ member countries have participated actively, responsibly, and effectively, contributing to the success of the 4th cycle of peacekeeping expert groups within the framework of ADMM+.

In particular, the Senior Lieutenant General expressed his gratitude to the Japanese Ministry of Defense for closely and effectively coordinating with the Vietnamese Ministry of Defense in its role as co-chair of CEPPP 2023.
At the same time, he expressed his belief that through the ADMM+ cooperation mechanism in general and specifically the activities of the expert group on peacekeeping, Vietnam - Japan and ADMM+ member countries will continue to promote cooperation to improve capacity to participate in peacekeeping activities, effectively contributing to UN peacekeeping activities around the world in the coming time.
On behalf of the international forces participating in the exercise, Ms. Matsuzawa Tomoko - Director of International Cooperation for the Indo-Pacific Region, Ministry of Defense of Japan, head of the Japanese peacekeeping expert group - assessed CEPPP as a special, unprecedented event with the coordination of three forces studying and practicing together: military observers, engineers and military medics.

She particularly emphasized the contributions of female members participating in CEPPP as lecturers, trainees, and assurance staff, contributing to increasing the value of CEPPP by enhancing understanding of gender perspectives and promoting women's participation in UN peacekeeping missions.
"Let's bring back to our countries the knowledge we have learned here. Let's take these experiences with us as provisions for future peacekeeping operations and let's continue to contribute to world peace and security," said Ms. Matsuzawa Tomoko.
The cycle of success of ADMM+ member countries
After 9 days, 18 international delegations from ADMM+ member countries, CEPPP 2023 participated in various activities including theoretical training and practical exercises.
At the program, students were taught in-depth theory combined with practical skills of each military observer, engineer and medical unit in performing tasks at the United Nations peacekeeping mission.

The most prominent of these is the integrated exercise situation between three components: military observers, engineers and military medics, requiring close coordination and collaboration.
Cycle 4 (2021 - 2023) is a successful cycle for ADMM+ member countries in general and for the ADMM+ expert group on peacekeeping in particular.
This final cycle activity was held with important and practical results, contributing to improving the capacity of the forces participating in UN peacekeeping operations of ADMM+ member countries, strengthening friendship, cooperation and understanding among ADMM+ member countries, and contributing to a peaceful, stable and prosperous environment in the region and the world.
The success of this final cycle activity is an important result to report at the ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting Plus in Indonesia in November 2023.
