According to senior aides, during the conversation, Ms. Harris emphasized the importance of a peaceful transfer of power and the concept of a President serving all Americans.

On the same day, CNN reported that former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama, who played a central role in the final weeks of Ms. Harris' campaign, sent a congratulatory letter to the winning ticket of Donald Trump-JD Vance.

Meanwhile, the international community continues to react to the results of the US presidential election. Speaking at the headquarters in New York, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres affirmed his readiness to cooperate with the new US administration in addressing global challenges.

He also acknowledged the active participation of the American people in this process.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry also officially congratulated Mr. Trump on his victory, expressing respect for the choice of American voters.

Regarding the 2024 US election season, according to British media, the two US presidential candidates, Ms. Kamala Harris and Mr. Donald Trump, spent a total of 3.5 billion USD in what is considered the most expensive race in the history of this country.

Data from the US shows that as of mid-October, Ms. Harris and the Democratic Party had raised more than $2.3 billion and spent $1.9 billion on election activities. Meanwhile, her opponent, Mr. Trump and the Republican Party, had raised more than $1.8 billion and spent $1.6 billion.

Campaign finance records show that of the $3.5 billion spent by the Democratic and Republican parties on the race for the US presidency, nearly half of the money was spent on advertising and media.

Of that, the bulk of the money, nearly $1.5 billion, was spent in seven battleground states. Notably, more than $400 million was spent in Pennsylvania alone, which has 19 electoral votes, more than the total spent in all 43 swing states.

Of the $1.8 billion he received, Mr. Trump spent about $100 million, or 14% of his total spending, on legal fees.

Meanwhile, the nonpartisan political finance watchdog OpenSecrets reported that $5.5 billion has been spent on the 2024 White House race.

According to the organization, over the past 20 years, the cost of US presidential elections has increased by nearly 114%, with campaign spending soaring from $2.57 billion in 2000 to $5.51 billion in 2024.
