According to The National News , with 550 chefs from 61 countries honored, The Best Chef Awards 2024 is the largest award ceremony ever. This is also the first time the event is held in the Middle East.
The Best Chef Awards is a bridge to collaborate and recognize famous and emerging culinary professionals on a local and global scale.
This award judges chefs based on three criteria.
This year, The Best, the first category, included 97 chefs who scored over 80% of the maximum score, demonstrating top-notch culinary skills.
World class, the next level awarded to 177 chefs who scored above 40% of the total score, has "world-class expertise".
Excellent, the third category, recognizes 276 outstanding chefs for making "notable contributions to the field."
This category is for chefs who score 20% or more of the maximum points, demonstrating excellent culinary skills.
Three chefs from Vietnam are on this third list, including chef Sam Tran (Gia restaurant, Hanoi ), Peter Cuong Franklin (An An Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City), and Sam Aisbett (Akuna, Ho Chi Minh City).
In the above list, Sam Tran and Peter Cuong Franklin are Vietnamese chefs; meanwhile, Sam Aisbett is Australian.
Gia, Anan Saigon and Akuna are all three restaurants in Vietnam that have achieved 1 Michelin star.
