At the ceremony, comrade Ma Thi Cu, Vice Chairman of the Ba Be District People's Committee, read a speech reviewing the glorious historical journey that the Party Committee, government and people of Ba Be District have worked hard to build throughout the process of struggle, construction and growth. The content of the speech clearly stated: "80 years ago, under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by President Ho Chi Minh, the entire Vietnamese nation rose up and carried out a General Uprising to seize power for the people. At that time, the Chau Trung Vuong Provisional People's Committee, the first district-level government, was born in the climax of the uprising against Japan to save the country."
Before the August Revolution in 1945, Cho Ra was an area where the Viet Minh movement developed strongly early on, and was one of the secret bases of revolutionary activists... In just a short time, with the spirit of uprising, by combining forms of political struggle with armed struggle, especially the uprising of the masses with armed forces (self-defense) as the core, they overthrew the domination of French imperialism and its henchmen from district to commune, sweeping the enemy out of Cho Ra.
Faced with the new and extremely favorable development of the revolution, comrade Vo Nguyen Giap, Commander of the Liberation Army in Cho Ra, decided to establish the revolutionary government of Cho Ra District and communes. Implementing the above decision, on March 30, 1945, at a flat field, under the lush canopy of ancient Coi trees along the Nang River in Phieng Chi village, Thuong Giao commune, comrade Vo Nguyen Giap chaired a solemn meeting with the participation of a large number of people of Cho Ra ethnic groups in a bustling atmosphere, with red flags flying all over the area. Here, comrade Vo Nguyen Giap announced the decision to establish the provisional People's Committee of Trung Vuong District (Cho Ra District).
Promoting the heroic revolutionary tradition of generations of fathers, in recent years, Ba Be district has united to promote internal strength and achieved very valuable results. From 1945 to present, the district Party Committee has held 22 congresses, the quality of the congresses has been constantly improved. The district Party Committee currently has 39 branches and affiliated party committees, including 18 grassroots party committees and 21 grassroots party cells; the number of party cells affiliated to grassroots party committees is 237, 155/155 villages and sub-regions have independent party cells, no village or sub-regional party cells operate together. The entire Party Committee currently has 5,014 party members. The quality of branches, party committees and party members has been constantly improved.
The economic sector has a high growth rate, ensuring food security, the forest area has increased rapidly, initially forming a number of commodity production areas, contributing significantly to the program of hunger eradication and poverty reduction and promoting rural development. The total annual grain output has increased, from 25,926 tons in 2010 to 29,561 tons in 2024, the average food per capita reached 588 kg/year. The forest coverage rate reached 67.5%. From 1997 to present, the district's tourism industry has changed a lot, bringing income to the people... The number of visitors to Ba Be tourism has increased from 8,840 (in 2002) to more than 170 thousand in 2024, with revenue of 28.4 billion VND. In the first 2 months of 2025, the number of visitors to Ba Be reached over 115,340, with revenue of over 3.6 billion VND...
Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the provincial leaders, comrade Nguyen Dang Binh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee praised and highly appreciated the spirit of solidarity and the achievements of the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Ba Be district. He suggested that in the coming time, Ba Be continue to promote the revolutionary tradition of the homeland, unite more to build a suitable socio-economic development strategy, prioritize the development of eco-tourism, community tourism associated with the conservation and promotion of the value of Ba Be Lake's natural heritage. Promote investment, regional linkage, develop diverse tourism products and improve service quality to become an attractive destination. Focus resources on socio-economic development, improve people's lives; preserve and conserve historical relics in the district, especially the Phieng Chi historical relic site, Thuong Giao commune, so that the relics will last forever./.
