Australia continues to support Vietnam in developing its stock market

DNVN - On August 2, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and the State Securities Commission of Vietnam (SSC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Accordingly, ASIC will continue to support capacity building programs for the SSC.

Mr. Joseph Longo - Chairman of ASIC highly appreciated the cooperative relationship with the State Securities Commission of Vietnam. This memorandum of understanding will create a basis for the two agencies to establish an official information sharing mechanism. At the same time, strengthen technical cooperation related to the management and supervision of the securities market. Promote investor protection activities.

“ASIC will continue its capacity building support programs for the SSC. We are always ready to provide activities including technical assistance, training activities and strengthening Vietnam’s regulatory infrastructure,” Mr. Joseph Longo emphasized.

SSC Chairwoman Vu Thi Chan Phuong and ASIC Chairman Joseph Longo signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the SSC and ASIC.

According to the Chairwoman of the State Securities Commission Vu Thi Chan Phuong, the Vietnamese stock market is increasingly asserting itself as an important medium- and long-term capital channel for the business community and the economy. This is an attractive investment channel for domestic and foreign investors, including investors from Australia.

“The Memorandum of Understanding signed today between ASIC and the SSC is a testament to the good cooperative relationship. It will promote more effective and practical cooperation between the two securities regulators in particular and between the two countries in general.

The minutes contribute to implementing major directions in the Joint Statement on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Australia," the Chairman of the State Securities Commission affirmed.

Ms. Phuong hopes that the signing of the cooperation agreement will create favorable conditions to support management agencies and units organizing the operation of the Vietnamese stock market. Along with that, it will create favorable conditions for Australian businesses and investors to do business and invest effectively and prosperously in Vietnam.
