Cunha is a shining star for Wolves, scoring 13 goals and providing 4 assists in 24 Premier League appearances this season. |
Andrea Berta is expected to sign a contract to become Arsenal's sporting director in early April. However, before that, the Italian expert will start building a summer transfer plan for the "Gunners".
Berta's two priority targets at the moment are Wolves striker Matheus Cunha and Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi. The Emirates Stadium team plans to spend more than £120 million on these two stars.
Cunha currently has a £62.5m release clause at Wolves, while Zubimendi's buyout clause at Real Sociedad is also set at £50.5m (€60m). Berta is determined to bring both players to the Emirates Stadium in the summer transfer window.
The former Atletico Madrid sporting director is no stranger to the duo Cunha and Zubimendi, as he has worked for a long time in La Liga. Cunha is the name Berta brought to Atletico Madrid in 2021. Meanwhile, Zubimendi has also been on Atletico's radar for many years.
In addition, Arsenal also plans to add other strikers to the attack. They are targeting Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting CP and Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao. These two deals could cost the "Gunners" no less than 150 million euros. However, Berta is determined to refresh Arsenal's attack this summer.
The North London club's board will also consider offers for several key forwards, including Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, and even Gabriel Jesus. Andrea Berta, 53, spent 12 years at Atletico Madrid, where he made his mark with a series of successful transfers.
The Italian sporting director left Atletico in January. In the summer transfer window of 2024 - his last at Atletico - Berta brought in two notable new players, Julian Alvarez and Conor Gallagher, to help strengthen the team. Previously, Berta also worked at Genoa and Parma in Italy.
