According to WCCF Tech , last year the European Union (EU) issued new regulations forcing Apple to open its iOS platform to third-party developers. Now, Apple's iPadOS is also facing a similar prospect as it is classified as a gatekeeper under the DMA (Domain Management Act) by the EU.
According to the DMA, a service or application is considered a gatekeeper when it has 45 million or more monthly users in the EU, annual revenue of €7.5 billion or more, or a market capitalization of €75 billion or more.
New EU regulations could force Apple to launch iPadOS in the EU.

According to new EU technology regulations, Apple has six months to meet its obligations related to iPadOS. This classification is based on several factors, including the number of enterprise and end-users, as well as the importance of iPadOS to certain use cases such as gaming.
The European Commission (EC) stated that Apple has a strong market position in the distribution of apps and other digital services. Therefore, the EU is requiring Apple to make changes to promote healthy competition in the market.
One potential change is allowing users to download apps outside the App Store on iPadOS. This would give users more choices and could lead to more competitive pricing for apps.
Apple has yet to officially comment on classifying iPadOS as a gatekeeper. However, the company may have to make some changes to iPadOS in the coming months to comply with EU regulations.
