According to BGR , LG Innotek has begun developing an under-display camera, and deployment is expected "after 2026." This technology makes the camera invisible when not in use, enhancing the immersive screen experience. This aligns with predictions that Apple will launch a full-screen iPhone in 2027, potentially hiding both Face ID and the front camera under the display.

To avoid the problem of the front camera absorbing low light, LG is developing a special technology called Feeform Optic that can overcome the limitations of existing under-panel cameras. This module will also include multiple lenses, both in a "freeform curve" shape on one or more surfaces to help make the transition seamless.
Of course, developing under-display cameras will take time, and a truly full-screen iPhone can't be expected before 2026. Interestingly, Apple has received samples of under-display cameras from other companies, but the company's performance evaluations have been deemed "unsatisfactory."
Before implementing a truly full-screen iPhone, Apple will need to hide Face ID technology under the display. This transition is expected to happen in 2025 with the iPhone 17. As a result, Apple may delay the design change across its entire iPhone lineup for another year, meaning Dynamic Island will remain the same as on the current iPhone 15 series.
Reportedly, Samsung has implemented under-display camera technology in the Galaxy Z Fold series. However, the camera's specifications are too low, which is why Samsung emphasizes that users should utilize the main camera instead of this under-display camera. It will be interesting to see how Apple can address this limitation.
