According to MacRumors , the number of innovations in the updates is minimal, with Apple primarily fixing previously identified bugs. Apple stated in the details of iOS 17.3.1 and iPadOS 17.3.1 that the update includes bug fixes, including one where “text may unexpectedly duplicate or overlap while typing,” helping users type more accurately.
Compatible iPhone users can now download the iOS 17.3.1 update.
A similar bug was fixed with the release of Apple macOS Sonoma 14.3.1 after users of the platform reported complaints about unexpected text input. This bug occurred on websites, when working with Mail and instant messaging. The issue persisted for several months and affected some versions of macOS Sonoma.
Apple has also fixed several bugs in watchOS 10.3.1, although the company hasn't specified which ones. The update also includes new watch faces for its smartwatches. Users can force install the latest updates in the appropriate sections of their device settings. In some cases, users should ensure their battery is charged above 50%.
iOS 17.3.1 is believed to be the latest major update to iOS 17.3, which came out just a few weeks ago, introducing the Anti-Theft Device feature, including additional security measures when performing sensitive actions on the device.
To update to iOS 17.3.1 on a compatible iPhone, users can access the Settings app, select General, and tap Software Update.
