Citing an internal Apple document, the Wall Street Journal reported that the company has restricted employees from using ChatGPT. Apple is concerned that highly confidential data could be leaked if employees use AI programs. The company also recommends against using GitHub's Copilot, a tool used to automate software development.

Last month, OpenAI – the developer of ChatGPT – announced the introduction of an incognito mode for its chatbot, which does not save users' chat history or use it to improve the AI. ChatGPT and other chatbots are increasingly under scrutiny for using data from hundreds of millions of users to train their AI.

Previously, Samsung banned employees from using ChatGPT in particular and AI-generated services in general. The company was concerned that data uploaded to AI platforms like Google Drive and Bing was stored on external servers, making it difficult to access and delete, and ultimately leading to its disclosure to other users. In early April, Samsung engineers inadvertently leaked internal source code when posting it to ChatGPT. It is unclear what information was included.

On May 18th, OpenAI announced the official launch of its ChatGPT app for iPhone and iPad. Previously, users could only access the chatbot via the web or third-party apps.
