According to the special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, on November 15 local time, on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit Week in Lima (Peru), President Luong Cuong met with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, US President Joe Biden, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk.
At the meeting with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, President Liang Qiang respectfully conveyed the sincere greetings of General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man to General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping. Prime Minister Lawrence Wong congratulated President Luong Cuong on his new position, affirmed that Vietnam is a major partner of Singapore in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and agreed with President Luong Cuong on promoting cooperation between the two countries in areas of strategic significance to the bilateral relationship. * At the meeting with the Australian Prime Minister, President Luong Cuong suggested that the two sides continue to closely coordinate to effectively implement the Action Program of the Vietnam - Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the period 2024 - 2027.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese congratulated President Luong Cuong on being elected President by the Vietnamese National Assembly; reaffirmed that Australia values the role and position of Vietnam; and said that he has visited Vietnam four times, the first of which was in 1986. On this occasion, Prime Minister Albanese respectfully invited President Luong Cuong to visit Australia at an appropriate time. The two sides agreed to continue to strengthen political trust, maintain regular and effective exchanges of high-level delegations and bilateral cooperation mechanisms, especially within the framework of the United Nations, APEC and ASEAN. * In a discussion with the Canadian Prime Minister, President Luong Cuong respectfully thanked Canada for supporting Vietnam in overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3 (international name: storm Yagi). The two leaders were pleased to see the strong development of Vietnam-Canada relations, and emphasized their determination to continue to deepen their cooperation on the basis of mutual respect and mutual benefit. Prime Minister Trudeau congratulated President Luong Cuong on his election as President, saying that many delegations of high-ranking officials and Canadian businesses have come to Vietnam to explore opportunities for economic, trade, and investment cooperation as well as in new areas, innovation, digital transformation, green transformation, etc. * Meanwhile, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk said that Russia prioritizes developing relations with Vietnam in an increasingly substantive and effective manner in the spirit of traditional friendship and commensurate with the potential of the two countries. President Luong Cuong affirmed that he always attaches importance to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the Russian Federation. The two sides agreed to promote cooperation in the fields of economy - trade, energy, science - technology, education - training, tourism, etc. At the meetings, the leaders affirmed the importance of multilateralism and multilateral mechanisms of which Vietnam and other parties are members, including APEC.
