Ha Dong is a district located in the southwest of the inner city of Hanoi, formerly the capital city of Ha Tay province.

On August 1, 2008, Ha Dong was merged into the capital Hanoi according to Resolution 15/2008/QH12 of the 12th National Assembly and from May 8, 2009, Ha Dong district became directly under the capital Hanoi. This is a land rich in historical and cultural traditions and is now one of the localities with rapid socio-economic development, on the way to becoming a comprehensively developed urban area of ​​Hanoi City.

Ha Dong District has an area of ​​49.64 km2, located in the southwest of the inner city of Hanoi.

After 10 years of implementing Resolution 15/2008/QH12 of the 12th National Assembly on expanding the administrative boundaries of Hanoi Capital, the political, economic and social situation of Ha Dong district has been stable and continuously developing.
