NDO - On the afternoon of April 18, in the Hanoi Old Quarter area, the Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board (Hoan Kiem District) opened a series of meaningful activities towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pham Tuan Long - Chairman of Hoan Kiem District People's Committee emphasized: This series of activities not only honors the important historical milestone of the nation but also joins in the atmosphere of celebrating the 139th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2025), towards the 71st anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2025) and the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025). This is an opportunity for Hanoi to introduce the quintessence of traditional craft villages, bringing unique cultural experiences to people and tourists.

Artisan Nguyen Dac Luyen - representative of Chuyen My mother-of-pearl inlay craft village (Thuong Tin, Hanoi) shared: After nearly 1,000 years, the craft village has preserved and developed the traditional craft, creating jobs for thousands of workers. In particular, the young generation of artisans is continuing and creating new works to meet the diverse needs of the market.

From April 18 to June 1, 2025, a series of events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South will transform Hanoi's Old Quarter into a unique cultural space. Here, residents and visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy many attractive cultural activities, displays, and exhibitions associated with traditional craft villages.

Highlights include the exhibition of bamboo and rattan weaving with the theme “Made of Tre”; an exhibition of art installations about Hang Bac craft street by artist Le Duc The Son at Kim Ngan Communal House; exhibitions and workshops; an exhibition of propaganda paintings at the Center for Culture and Arts (22 Hang Buom); and a space for introducing and exchanging culture and tourism between Hanoi and Phu Yen at the Old Quarter Heritage Information Center (28 Hang Buom).
