Impact of Typhoon No. 6

Affected by Typhoon No. 6 - Tra Mi, Quang Nam province has reported 2 injuries and 13 houses with damaged roofs, along with numerous dangerous landslides.


On the afternoon of October 27th, the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Quang Nam province issued a quick report on the initial damage caused by Typhoon No. 6 – Tra Mi. In Quang Nam, 2 people were injured and 13 houses had their roofs blown off.

Accordingly, in Quang Nam province, two people were injured: Nguyen Tan Tri (born in 1987, Binh Minh commune, Thang Binh district) and Nguyen Van Minh (born in 1989, Ha My village, Duy Vinh commune, Duy Xuyen district), who fell while reinforcing their houses. They are currently receiving emergency treatment at the hospital.

Regarding housing, six houses had their roofs partially blown off, including one in Nal village, Lang commune; and five in Arooi village, Gari commune, Tay Giang district. Emergency response teams promptly assisted residents in repairing the damage. Additionally, seven houses in Phuoc Son district had their roofs blown off, including four in Phuoc Thanh commune and three in Phuoc Hoa commune.

In the healthcare sector, unusual subsidence and cracking of the foundation and walls have occurred at the Tay Giang District Medical Center, specifically in the surgical, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging service area, covering approximately 300 square meters. The Tay Giang District People's Committee has proactively implemented a temporary relocation plan to ensure the safety of staff, workers, patients, and professional equipment and machinery.

In addition, in the mountainous district of Phuoc Son, Typhoon No. 6 caused landslides and fallen trees on several roads, affecting traffic. The Phuoc Son District People's Committee directed relevant agencies and localities to carry out temporary repairs, while also posting warning signs and advising people to limit unnecessary travel during the storm.

Regarding the crack in the hillside behind the Na No residential area, Gia Cao village, Phuoc Gia commune, Hiep Duc district, it is approximately 1 meter deep and 30 meters long, in an arc shape with a radius of 10 meters; the estimated volume of soil at risk of landslide is over 100 cubic meters.

All 30 households/156 people in the Na No residential area, Gia Cao village, have been evacuated to KpaKơlơng Primary School; sufficient food and essential supplies have been prepared for their accommodation and daily life.
