Warm, affectionate
The family of Mrs. Bui Thi Liem (Hoa Lac village, Quang Chau commune) is in a very difficult situation. Mrs. Liem is old, her husband is sick, she takes care of all the daily activities by herself. Her family lives in a cramped old house, which has been degraded for many years but has not had the means to repair it.
Sharing the family's difficulties, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Trach district called on the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) - Bac Quang Binh Branch to support 50 million VND to build a new house. With the support of working days from the government and villagers, Ms. Liem was able to build a new house of 40 square meters , solid and airy.
On the day of inauguration and handover of the house, Mrs. Bui Thi Liem happily shared: “At our old age, living in a solid house, not worrying about rain or sun, a solemn place to worship our ancestors, my husband and I feel secure and very happy. Thank you to the Party Committee, government, Fatherland Front at all levels and everyone for your attention and support.”
Similarly, the family of Mrs. Tran Thi Nhi (82 years old) in Hung Loc village, Quang Hung commune has just received support of 50 million VND from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Trach district to start building a new house in April 2024. Currently, Mrs. Nhi's house is under construction and is about to be completed.
Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Hung Commune, Nguyen Van Hinh, said: Mrs. Nhi's family is in extremely difficult circumstances. She herself is blind, has a mild stroke, lives with her son (who works as a bricklayer for a living, his wife left a long time ago without any information) and her granddaughter in 5th grade. Every day, her son goes to work, Mrs. Nhi has to rely on her granddaughter to take care of her and cook for her. Her house is cramped and has been dilapidated for a long time, but there is no money to repair it.
On the day of the groundbreaking ceremony for the new house, although she could not see clearly but heard everyone talking, Mrs. Nhi was very happy. She confided: “So my grandmother and I are about to have a new house to live in. This is truly a warm and affectionate house and today is truly the happiest day for my grandmother and me. Thank you to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee at all levels, local authorities and units supporting the family.”
Make dreams come true
In the past time, not only Ms. Liem and Ms. Nhi's families but also many other poor families in Quang Trach district have received support to build "Great Solidarity" houses from the joint efforts of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels, social organizations, businesses and philanthropists.
Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Trach district Nguyen Thi Ngoc Thuy said: In 2024, the Front and member organizations at all levels in the district mobilized, implemented the construction and handed over 31 "Great Solidarity" houses with a total value of 2.5 billion VND; received, visited and presented gifts from support sources to poor households, near-poor households, and extremely disadvantaged households on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of At Ty with 3,658 gifts with a total value of over 2.6 billion VND.
Along with promoting the "Great Unity" house building movement, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Trach district is closely coordinating with the Steering Committee of the district's poverty alleviation program to accelerate the effective implementation of the poverty alleviation program for poor and near-poor households with housing difficulties. Accordingly, the Front and its member organizations have mobilized and called for more socialized resources and working days to support families in building houses. As of April 15, Quang Trach district has completed the poverty alleviation for 85/96 poor and near-poor households in the area. Currently, the remaining 11 households are being urgently constructed, ensuring completion before April 30, 2025. |
This activity has created great material and spiritual strength, is a source of encouragement and motivation for all classes of people, making the dream of settling down for many poor households come true, contributing to reducing the poverty rate in the district, gradually effectively implementing the emulation movement "For the poor - No one is left behind", Ms. Thuy shared.
According to the leader of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Trach district, from the beginning of 2025 until now, along with the coordination in implementing the program to eliminate poverty and provide housing for poor and near-poor households, the Front and its member organizations in the district continue to promote the movement to build "Great Unity" houses.
From the provincial “For the Poor” Fund and mobilizing more businesses, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district continues to start construction of 7 more “Great Unity” houses for poor households with housing difficulties in the district. The above-mentioned houses are currently being urgently constructed by construction teams, and will soon be completed and put into use.
