On the evening of March 8, at Lam Son Square (Thanh Hoa City), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa organized the opening ceremony of the 20th Ethnic Culture Festival and a performance of traditional costumes of ethnic groups of Thanh Hoa province in 2024.

Attending the opening ceremony were members of the Provincial Party Committee: Dau Thanh Tung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Tran Anh Chung, Chairman of the Thanh Hoa City People's Committee; representatives of the Department of Ethnic Culture (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism); representatives of the provincial departments, agencies, branches and unions; districts, towns and cities in the province, along with more than 1,000 typical folk artists, actors, musicians and art troupes from 27 districts, towns and cities in the province.

With the theme “Spring in Thanh Hoa”, the 20th Ethnic Culture Festival and Traditional Costume Show of Thanh Hoa Province in 2024 will bring many unique performances. The festival will begin with a traditional musical instrument performance by artisans and actors from 27 districts, towns, cities and traditional clubs and the song “City on the banks of the Ma River”.

After the opening ceremony, there was a performance of folk art programs, demonstration of traditional cultural rituals, games, folk performances; demonstration of traditional costumes of ethnic groups in Thanh Hoa province.

The program with many special performances, full of spring colors, praised the Party, Uncle Ho, homeland, country, love of nature, working life, love of couples, solidarity of ethnic groups and the economic, cultural - social, security - defense achievements of the locality. At the same time, many performances simulated the general characteristics of folk culture and beliefs of ethnic groups, contributing to promoting good cultural values, eliminating bad customs that are not suitable for today's life.

In particular, through the performance of traditional costumes of Thanh Hoa province's ethnic groups, many ethnic costumes were designed with bright colors and rich, diverse patterns associated with the daily life and philosophy of the ethnic people.
Through the activities at the Festival, it has contributed to improving the spiritual and cultural life of the people, promoting the spirit of national solidarity; preserving and honoring the values and cultural identities of the ethnic minorities of Thanh Hoa province. At the same time, raising awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors and ethnic minorities in preserving the cultural identities of the community of 7 ethnic groups in the province, contributing to "Building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture with strong national identity".

The festival is also an opportunity to promote and introduce the unique culture of Thanh Hoa province's ethnic minorities to the public, domestic and foreign tourists; promote culture and tourism, especially community tourism, origin tourism, and cultural tourism development; promote research and collection to preserve and develop traditional cultural heritages of Thanh Hoa province's ethnic minorities.

Tomorrow (March 9), activities such as folk art performances; traditional cultural ritual performances; folk games and performances; and traditional costumes of Thanh Hoa province's ethnic groups will continue to take place.
At the end of the Festival, the Organizing Committee will award prizes for the following contents: folk art; performance of traditional cultural rituals; folk games and performances; performance of traditional costumes of Thanh Hoa province's ethnic groups.
The festival will close at 8:00 p.m. on March 9, with a closing ceremony and awards ceremony.
