The Vietnamese-Japanese Ao Dai collection was performed on the opening night of the Vietnam-Japan cultural and trade exchange program in 2023.
The collection includes 15 large Ao Dai designs and 30 children's designs, with the message of wishing that the Vietnam - Japan cooperative relationship will last forever and show the beauty of Japanese - Vietnamese people all over the world.
Sharing about the collection, designer Hue Thi said: “The main colors are red, white and the 7 colors of the rainbow. These are two lucky colors, meaning a good start, often appearing in happy occasions, weddings or graduation ceremonies. Red (aka) symbolizes passion, love, enthusiasm; white (shiro) represents purity and cleanliness. In terms of religion, both colors have sacred meanings, so the Torii gates at Shinto shrines are red and white pebbles are often spread in front of the doors of sacred places."
For the collection for the group of children models, Japanese silk material printed with diverse paintings of Japanese girls, Japanese girl paintings are also one of the separate art forms and have an attraction over time. Inspired by the Kimono costume, each design for the children model has a large bow waistband, combined with a long yếm dress, a very elegant and pleasant Vietnamese-Japanese fusion for the viewer and honoring each other's culture.
Cherry blossoms are the representative flower of Japan, symbolizing the warrior spirit of Japanese Samurai, combined by the designer with the charm of Vietnamese Ao Dai.
For the large sample group, Cherry Blossom is the flower that represents Japan, symbolizing the warrior spirit of Japanese Samurai. Each flower color has its own symbolic meaning. Bright pink is the main color of cherry blossom, symbolizing love and romance. Japanese cherry blossoms have both color and fragrance, and are both the philosophy and pride of Japan. Perhaps because of these factors, in this collection, throughout each supporting or main point, there are Japanese cherry blossoms - an indispensable beauty of the land of the rising sun.
Chrysanthemum – the flower of longevity, is also a symbol of fullness, happiness, good nature and longevity. Today, chrysanthemum is still considered an important symbol of the Japanese Royal Family.
The collection has diverse designs like the cultural exchange between the two countries, the image of the national flower of Japan (chrysanthemum and peach) is carefully embroidered as a respect on the background of Vietnamese ao dai. With the main material being Japanese silk, the smooth and flowing queen silk like the soft and noble character of the Japanese people, each design alternates the hidden Japanese national flower in each ao dai flap, showing the exchange of two cultures.
With each collection of designer Hue Thi, viewers can easily recognize by the accents from the scarves, the borders, the bows... all have the rustic silhouette of the South, a native product that she always respects and that is also the unique identity of the Hue Thi ao dai brand.
