Death penalty for those who spread "white death"

The Provincial People's Procuracy has just coordinated with the Provincial People's Court to organize a first-instance trial of the case of Nguyen Hong Khanh and his accomplices on the crimes of "Illegal storage, transportation, and trading of narcotics", "Illegal storage of military weapons" and "Failure to report a crime".

According to the indictment, from about January to March 2022, Nguyen Hong Khanh and Ly Dinh Hung bought drugs from a man named Nguyen Van Phong (specific address unknown). The two rented a house at 05 Vo Thi Sau, Ngoc Trao Ward, Bim Son Town, both to live in and to have a place to weigh, count, and package drugs into small bags to sell for profit. Khanh and Hung hired Pham Van Quang (a taxi driver) to transport drugs to customers.

At about 10:00 a.m. on April 15, 2022, at house number 05 Vo Thi Sau, Ngoc Trao ward, Bim Son town, after receiving a package containing ecstasy pills hidden inside a coffee grinder, Nguyen Hong Khanh, Ly Dinh Hung, Pham Thai Phuoc, and Luong Xuan Duc used an electronic scale to weigh and package 7,000 ecstasy pills to sell to customers.

At around 3:00 p.m. on April 15, 2022, Khanh and Hung continued to receive drugs transferred by Nguyen Van Phong via Vinh Quang bus station when they were discovered and arrested by the police.

The total amount of drugs seized by the Investigation Agency from Nguyen Hong Khanh and his accomplices was 21,942.241 grams of MDMA, Amphetamine and 23.361 grams of Ketamine. In addition, Nguyen Hong Khanh also possessed 25 bullets of military weapons.

Based on the request of the Procuracy, the Trial Council sentenced Nguyen Hong Khanh, Ly Dinh Hung, and Pham Thai Phuoc to death, Luong Xuan Duc to life in prison for the crime of “Illegal drug trafficking”; Pham Van Quang to 4 years in prison for the crime of “Illegal drug transportation”; Bui Anh Long to 18 months for the crime of “Failure to report a crime” and 18 months for the crime of “Illegal possession of drugs”, with a total sentence of 36 months; Le Nhat Hoang to 27 months for the crime of “Failure to report a crime”.
