On the evening of November 25, information from the People's Committee of Van Don District said that this locality had just assigned the authorities to investigate the case of more than 120 students in the area eating strange candy, after which 5 students had to be hospitalized due to nausea, dizziness, numb lips, and vertigo.

Specifically, through verification by local authorities, on the morning of the same day (November 25), some students of Cai Rong Town Secondary School bought candy with foreign characters printed on it to bring to class and share it. After that, 126 students ate the same type of candy.
A short while later, 5 students suddenly showed symptoms of nausea, dizziness, numb lips, chest pain, and difficulty breathing and were taken to Van Don District Medical Center for monitoring and treatment. By 4:00 p.m. on November 25, the 5 students were in stable health and were sent home for monitoring.

Immediately after receiving information about the incident, the People's Committee of Van Don District assigned the Department of Education and Training to coordinate with the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene to monitor, verify and clarify the incident; at the same time, inform students not to use strange candies of unknown origin.
Speaking to Thanh Nien , a leader of Van Don district said that through verification by the authorities, it was found that the group of students suffered from digestive disorders due to eating strange candy. Addictive substances have not been detected in the above mentioned candy.
