On November 26, in Ho Chi Minh City, the People's Committee of An Giang province held a conference to introduce investment potential and promote typical products of An Giang province.
This is an important event to introduce the potential and competitive advantages of An Giang province, the list of key projects to attract investment according to the Provincial Planning orientation for the period 2021 - 2030, vision 2050.
At the event, many guests including domestic and foreign businesses and experts were attracted by the booths displaying a variety of outstanding products of An Giang province such as: dried tra fish, various types of seafood, palm sugar, rice, vegetables and fruits...
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Ho Van Mung, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee, said that the development goals until 2030 identify three key areas including: Agricultural economy, tourism development and border trade economy. The province is also determined to turn these potentials and strengths into new growth drivers.
"An Giang aims to develop large-scale agricultural economy, reduce emissions, apply high technology... and become the center of rice and freshwater aquaculture in the Mekong Delta. In addition to rice, the province focuses on developing key agricultural products such as tra fish and vegetables," Mr. Mung emphasized.
From the host's perspective, An Giang province leaders said the province still has a lot of potential to develop tourism into an important economic sector.
In addition, with a border line with Cambodia of nearly 100km, An Giang is planned into 3 border gate economic zones with a total area of more than 30,000 hectares as a comprehensive economic zone.
Currently, a number of functional zones for developing trade - services - logistics and industrial production have been planned to welcome investors.
At the conference, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc said that the Government considers An Giang in particular and the Mekong Delta region as a very important locality and region in the economic development of the whole country, so there have been, are and will be additional policies to promote investment.
"The Ministry will increase support for the province in attracting investment, removing arising obstacles, and at the same time advise the Prime Minister on policies to balance resources, create new spaces, lead investment, build key industrial zones... so that An Giang as well as the Mekong Delta region can develop well," Ms. Ngoc affirmed.
Speaking to the press on the sidelines of the conference, Mr. Paul-Antoine Croizé, Chairman of the EuroCham Food, Agriculture and Aquaculture Subcommittee, said that many European businesses are looking to invest and promote trade in the agricultural sector, especially green and sustainable agricultural production. Therefore, many countries are considering An Giang as one of the potential localities for research and investment.
Also at the conference, leaders of An Giang province signed a memorandum of understanding and investment cooperation with strategic investors to implement a number of key priority investment projects according to the An Giang Provincial Planning orientation for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.
