Lang Co Bay (Phu Loc district, Thua Thien - Hue province) is one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in Vietnam, an almost pristine bay, located at the foot of Hai Van pass with a diverse and rich ecosystem.
After 15 years of joining the club and being recognized as a beautiful bay in the world, with effective local support, Lang Co has made remarkable developments.
With its brand, Lang Co has attracted a large number of tourists to visit and relax, contributing to the development of tourism in the province.
Among them, we cannot fail to mention the legendary Mediterranean resort project, located in Loc Vinh commune.
According to the plan, this will be a comprehensive service center, a resort consisting of 52 villas, hotel rooms, conference halls and 5-star standard apartments. The investor's commitment at the time of commencement is that the project will be completed and put into use in 2018.
In fact, after nearly a decade of construction, by mid-May 2024, the entire land area of tens of thousands of square meters of the legendary Mediterranean resort project had only sprouted unfinished, roughly built villas.
Speaking with VietNamNet, a leader of the Chan May - Lang Co Economic Zone Management Board admitted that, along with 4 other projects granted permission within the management unit's area, the above project is among a total of 48 projects subject to special supervision and monitoring according to Resolution 70/NQ-HDND dated August 21, 2023 of the People's Council of Thua Thien - Hue province.
"As for the legendary Mediterranean tourist area project, the investor is currently facing financial difficulties and cannot continue with the project.
The project is currently being put up for auction by Vinacoland Construction and Housing Development Corporation," said this leader.
According to VietNamNet's investigation, in 2022, the Government Inspectorate issued an inspection conclusion on tourism projects, mentioning the implementation of policies and laws in 11 tourism investment projects in Thua Thien - Hue province (from January 1, 2007 to December 31, 2017) with violations, shortcomings, deficiencies and limitations.
Regarding the Mediterranean Legendary Tourist Area project, the conclusion of the Government Inspectorate indicated that the investor had not fully paid the deposit amount according to the investment commitment signed on July 13, 2011 with the Chan May - Lang Co Economic Zone Management Board, and had not ensured the payment deadline as committed.
The determination of 20,638m2 of land for villas for tourism real estate business as residential land in the third adjusted investment certificate dated June 1, 2017 is not in accordance with the regulations on land classification according to the 2013 Land Law.
