On the evening of March 16, at 7/5 Square (Dien Bien Phu city), the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Dien Bien province to organize the opening ceremony of the National Tourism Year - Dien Bien and the Ban Flower Festival 2024.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha; Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung; delegates from various countries, leaders of central ministries, departments and agencies, leaders of many provinces and cities across the country and a large number of ethnic people in the province attended the program.
In his opening speech, Secretary of Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee Tran Quoc Cuong emphasized that 70 years ago, under the talented leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, along with the wisdom and courage of General Vo Nguyen Giap, and the support and assistance of international friends, our army and people achieved the Dien Bien Phu victory that "resounded throughout the five continents and shook the world".
Inheriting the heroic revolutionary tradition of our army and people, over the past 70 years, with the attention and leadership of the Party and State, the support and assistance of central departments, ministries and branches, and the support and coordination of localities, businesses, investors, organizations and individuals... The Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Dien Bien province have achieved many important achievements in socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, thereby building Dien Bien into a friendly and attractive destination, leaving a good impression in the hearts of friends and tourists.
Through cultural, sports and tourism activities and events held in 2024, Dien Bien province hopes to welcome more people, friends and domestic and international tourists to Dien Bien to visit, experience, cooperate in investment, develop the economy... to build Dien Bien to develop more and more; at the same time, promote and introduce the image of Dien Bien land and people on the tourism map of Vietnam and the world.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha affirmed that the theme of the National Tourism Year 2024 is built on the heroic echoes of the Dien Bien Phu Victory along with the crystallization of the majestic nature of the borderland and the image of the Ban flower expressing the typical beauty of Dien Bien land with the aspiration for peace.
The glory of Dien Bien Phu and thousands of red addresses throughout the country not only have great significance in educating the people, especially the young generation, about the revolutionary tradition and indomitable will of previous generations, but also affirm the great significance of the liberation movement for oppressed peoples in the world.

Coming to Dien Bien today, visitors can also experience the majesty of the wild, overlapping mountains, mountain passes, seas of clouds, stilt houses, terraced fields and traditional festivals.
Hoa ban has entered the subconscious, cultural life and spirit of many ethnic groups in the Northwest, as a symbol of immortal love, expressing the eternal desire of the ethnic community for eternal happiness.
The Deputy Prime Minister asked localities to actively respond to the National Tourism Year 2024, while promoting Dien Bien's creative spirit in choosing tourism themes that honor the cultural and natural values of each region, creating a diverse and colorful Vietnamese tourism ecosystem.
Along with that, Dien Bien needs to have synchronous solutions on planning and attracting investment to create different and classy tourism products associated with the community tourism ecosystem to exploit the attractive value of the colorful cultural working life to help awaken the beauty of the Northwest mountains and forests as well as the wild, rustic and simple cultural features in the daily life of the people, helping Dien Bien tourism to truly "take off".

In particular, the province needs to focus on building a civilized, friendly and sustainable tourism environment, promoting green transformation, developing ecosystem-based tourism, discovery and experience tourism, strongly promoting cultural values, to promote tourism economy, taking tourism economy as the foundation to preserve and promote cultural values.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha affirmed that with the special attention of the Party and State, the dynamism, creativity and high determination of Party committees at all levels, authorities, business community and people, Dien Bien tourism will become a leading destination of history, nature and identity of Vietnam and the region.
After the opening ceremony, the art program "About the Ban Flower Region" with 3 chapters : Dien Bien - the legendary land ; Dien Bien - traveling along the wings ; Dien Bien - the flower seasons connecting all directions took place, bringing memorable experiences to visitors.
Within the framework of the Ban Flower Festival from March 16-18, there will also be many rich and unique activities such as: live show "UVA Legend"; highland cultural space; sports activities; display and introduction of OCOP products, typical agricultural products, traditional craft village products; Thai Xoe and Mong flute art festival, performance of traditional costumes of ethnic groups; National scientific conference "Dien Bien promotes potential and advantages to develop sustainable tourism"; photo contest "Sparkling Ban flower land".
