These are cases with difficult circumstances in the area. They have lived together for more than 10 years and have 2-3 children together. But the dream of wearing a wedding dress, holding hands and introducing themselves to relatives in a solemn wedding ceremony is something they have never dared to think of in their lives. This time, with the support and cooperation of everyone, a neat and warm wedding was held with the witness of both families.
Early in the morning, Mr. Phung Van Trong took Ms. Lam Thuy Phuong on a 3-wheel motorbike from Phuoc Vinh to the wedding dress shop for makeup. Mr. Trong said that he has been disabled since childhood. He is nearly 50 years old this year. More than 15 years ago, Ms. Phuong fell in love with him, and the two lived under the same roof. Every day, both of them sold lottery tickets. Their life was just enough to take care of their 2 children's education.
“My husband and I sell about 300 lottery tickets every day. Just last year, my family received 21 million VND from the local authorities to buy cows. We added 2 million VND to buy 2 mother cows, and now we are about to have calves. Today, the District Women's Union and benefactors organized a wedding, there is really nothing more joyful. My husband and I will try to work hard to take care of our children's education properly,” Trong said with a smile.
At nearly 10am, the three brides had finished their makeup. Wearing a pure white wedding dress, the Khmer girl Lang Thi Na became elegant, making everyone admire. Na was truly happy and joyful to wear a wedding dress for the first time in her life.
“This is a memory I will never forget,” Ms. Na said sincerely. Ms. Na and Mr. Ke Duon’s family were not well off. Seeing that their children loved each other, the two sides only agreed to marry each other with a “nod” without a full-fledged party.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong - owner of Phuong Kieu wedding dress shop said that in the past, seeing some localities organizing mass weddings for couples in difficult circumstances, she also wanted to join hands to carry out this meaningful work in Tay Ninh.
“When I heard that the District Women's Union was holding a zero-dong wedding, I immediately joined in, registering to support the bride's makeup, sponsoring wedding dresses, and wedding venue. I also cooked for 20 wedding banquet tables. I hope that those in difficult circumstances can also have joy on their wedding day like other couples; at the same time, spreading humane ideas and love to everyone,” said the owner of Phuong Kieu wedding dress shop.
In the warm wedding space, the couples were toasted by relatives, local authorities and benefactors. The wedding took place solemnly and deeply when the bride and groom poured wine to invite both parents, although there were some, not all biological parents were standing by their side on their happy day.
Mr. Giao Sa - uncle of the bride Lang Thi Na, on behalf of the families, expressed his thanks to the donors, the District Women's Union and the local government for creating conditions for the couples to have a solemn and cozy wedding ceremony. "I am really happy to see my niece having her wedding today. Thank you all the donors, the District Women's Union and the local government", Mr. Giao Sa emotionally said.
In front of everyone, the groom awkwardly put his arm around the bride and drank the cup of wine; the bride was shy when the groom placed a light kiss on her cheek. As a wedding gift, the Women's Union of Chau Thanh district mobilized donors to give each couple a pair of wedding rings and a pair of earrings. In addition, the Provincial Women's Union and the authorities of Phuoc Vinh, Thanh Dien, and Ninh Dien communes all gave gifts to congratulate the couples on their happiness.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh - Vice President of Chau Thanh District Women's Union said that this is the first time the District Women's Union has organized a wedding for women in difficult circumstances. The Union mobilized sponsors to support the organization of a zero-dong wedding, so both families do not have to pay any expenses.
Ms. Ngoc Anh shared: “This is a meaningful activity to show everyone’s love and care for women in difficult and disadvantaged circumstances in the area, so that they can have a warm and complete wedding. We hope that in the future, there will be more support from benefactors to take care of women in difficult circumstances, and to receive care from society.”
Happiness is not a destination, happiness is a journey. And in the journey of finding and building a happy family, you have received sharing and nurturing from golden hearts.
“I really thank the donors for creating conditions for us to have a warm and complete wedding today. We will try to live well, work to take care of our children and in the future, maybe join hands with the local authorities to organize weddings for other couples,” Ms. Que Anh happily said.
