Everyone told me "stop singing, you can't be a singer"

Chi Pu explains why she chose the path of singing.

In recent days, Chi Pu has been receiving a lot of public attention for participating in the "Riding the Wind 2023" program on Mango TV (China).

In episode 4, Chi Pu shared her decision to enter the singing career with Cung Lam Na, when the two were eating together at their shared house.

Chi Pu shared about her singing career backstage at the 2023 Wind Riding show.

Chi Pu received praise from her fellow teammate: "I almost cried when I saw you practicing swinging on the hoop today. You know, you can do anything."

The 90s-born beauty replied: "Not exactly, there were times when I wished I could sing better. Five years ago, when I decided to become a singer, everyone told me to stop singing, like: 'You're not suited to be a singer.'"

Chi Pu confided that she knows that even now, whenever she sings, people still say those things to her. When asked by Cung Lam Na why she doesn't listen to those people, Chi Pu explained: "Because I like and love it, I love being on stage, confidently and comfortably."

"Here (referring to participating in the 2023 Wind Riding Race - PV), nobody knows who I am, and they don't know about the previous online comments about me, so I feel very comfortable."

In the following short interview, Chi Pu shared: "At this moment, I haven't seen the finish line yet. Once I've chosen a path, I hope to be determined to see it through to the end. Because that's the moment when I feel the happiest."

Previously, in episode 4 of "Riding the Wind 2023," Chi Pu was the team captain for the first time, with the other two members being Cung Lam Na and Luu Nha Sat.

At the same time, Ella and Chi Pu's group formed an alliance. The ranking of each alliance was based on the total points from the two performances led by the two team captains.

In this episode, Chi Pu's team performed "Rosemary" - a famous song by Jay Chou.

The stage design, conceived by the entire team, featured a unique scene of flames erupting on a water-filled stage. The sound of the zither, combined with the performances of Gong Linna and Liu Yasheng, created truly cinematic moments.

Chi Pu, in particular, made a surprise appearance in mid-air, performing acrobatic stunts with ropes and hoops at a height of approximately 8 meters, slowly descending onto the stage filled with water and fire. She also performed a song in Chinese for the first time.

Upon completing the performance, "Rosemary" received 847 points from the studio audience, the second highest score among the eight competing performances.

Riding the Wind 2023 officially aired on May 5th, initially with 33 contestants. Those with low scores were gradually eliminated from the program. Currently, the show has 28 participants.

In each challenge, contestants are divided into groups to perform a song requested by the judges. Ultimately, those with the highest scores will come together to form a new band.
