According to a statement from the Egyptian Presidency, Mr. El-Sisi and his Cypriot counterpart Christodoulides discussed bilateral relations and the regional situation.
The two leaders stressed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of economy, energy and electricity connectivity, as well as promoting the trilateral cooperation mechanism between Egypt, Cyprus and Greece, considering it an important tool to promote cooperation in the region.
The two sides exchanged views on recent developments as well as ways to ease current tensions in the Middle East.
In addition, Mr. El-Sisi warned of the serious impacts of the ongoing escalation of conflicts, saying these moves hinder the aspirations of stability and development of countries in the Middle East.
For his part, President Christodoulides appreciated Egypt's efforts to restore stability in the region, stressing Cyprus' commitment to supporting all efforts to promote peace and security in the Middle East.
On the same day, in a phone call with the French President's Special Envoy to Lebanon Jean-Yves Le Drian, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty affirmed that Cairo resolutely rejects all acts of violating Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and called on the Israeli army to completely withdraw from southern Lebanon.
In addition, the head of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry also warned that the current growing escalation requires intensive efforts and prompt intervention to achieve an immediate ceasefire.
According to Mr. Abdelatty, achieving a ceasefire in Gaza, ensuring full access to humanitarian aid in the strip, and stopping Israeli actions in the West Bank will pave the way for ending the escalation in the region and avoiding a full-scale conflict in the Middle East.
