The survey aimed to identify the gap between the aspirations and actions of companies in Asia towards sustainability, by comparing their stated commitments with actual investments or tangible actions. However, the survey also found that less than half of businesses (47%) have or are implementing comprehensive strategies to realise their commitments.

Schneider Electric believes that sustainable development will help businesses grow strongly.

Mr. Dong Mai Lam, General Director of Schneider Electric Vietnam and Cambodia shared: "We see a positive increase in awareness and commitment of Vietnamese businesses in setting sustainability goals. However, the survey shows that there is still much to do to close the gap between intention and action. Many organizations may be pursuing sustainability, but still lack an overall roadmap and are only focusing on short-term goals, instead of outlining a sustainable journey. Business leaders need to allocate resources more reasonably".

Schneider Electric and partner Milieu Insight surveyed 4,500 mid- to senior-level leaders in the private sector across nine countries and territories in Asia. The companies surveyed spanned a wide range of industries, including real estate, transportation, and information technology.

Schneider Electric has created the Green Action Gap metric, which measures the gap between awareness and concrete actions to achieve sustainable development goals. Pursuing these strategies requires long-term investment, but the results are worth it. In addition, sustainability plays an important role in attracting and retaining talent (97%), according to most business leaders in the survey.
