Holiday schedule for students nationwide on April 30-May 1

Holidays and Tet holidays for preschool, general education and continuing education students are guided by the Ministry of Education and Training in accordance with the provisions of the Labor Code and annual guidance documents.

According to the instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training, the holiday schedule for April 30 - May 1, students will have 5 consecutive days off (from April 30 - May 4).

The Ministry of Education and Training proposed to add 8,200 billion VND to exempt tuition fees from kindergarten to grade 12.

The Ministry of Education and Training has just sent the Ministry of Justice the appraisal dossier of the Draft Resolution of the National Assembly on exempting tuition fees for education from preschool to general education.

According to the report of Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son, in the 2023-2024 school year, the country will have 23.2 million students. The number of students divided by level of education: 4.8 million preschool children; 8.8 million primary school students, 6.5 million secondary school students and about 2.99 million high school students.

Based on the minimum tuition fee, the total budget required by the State to exempt tuition fees for preschool children, public primary school students and support tuition fees for preschool children and non-public primary school students is about 30,000 billion VND. The total budget allocated by the State to exempt tuition fees for 5-year-old preschool children, primary school students, and secondary school students in the 2025-2026 school year is 22,500 billion VND.

The Ministry of Education and Training said that the state budget will increase by about 8,200 billion VND when implementing free tuition from kindergarten to grade 12.

Proposal to spend 91,000 billion VND to mobilize preschool children from 3-5 years old to go to school

The Ministry of Education and Training is proposing to universalize preschool education for children aged 3 to 5 nationwide. The goal is that by 2030, 100% of provinces and cities will meet level 1 standards for universal preschool education, and by 2035, level 2 standards.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Education and Training proposed spending VND91,000 billion over 10 years to mobilize children aged 3-5 to go to school. This proposal includes policies to support preschool children, such as increasing the level of lunch allowance, subsidizing education for children in difficult areas, and subsidizing 12 months of basic salary to attract teachers.

At the same time, the Ministry of Education and Training also proposed investing in developing the network of schools, facilities, and teaching equipment to ensure conditions for universal implementation.

Transfer of management of secondary schools, primary schools and kindergartens to commune level

The Ministry of Education and Training has just issued an official dispatch on ensuring the maintenance and improvement of the quality of operations of public educational institutions in administrative units when implementing the two-level local government model.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Education and Training requires localities to maintain educational public service units and transfer to commune-level authorities the function of state management of education for secondary schools, primary schools and kindergartens.

This is carried out according to Conclusion No. 137-KL/TW dated March 28 of the Politburo and Secretariat on the Project to rearrange and reorganize administrative units at all levels and build a 2-level local government organization model.

The Ministry of Education and Training requests the provincial People's Committee to identify the state management contents of education that the district level is implementing to transfer to the Department of Education and Training or the commune-level People's Committee.

More than 30% of Hanoi's 12th grade exam scores below average

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has just announced the results of the city-wide quality assessment of grades 11 and 12. According to statistics from the Department of Education and Training, the number of exams scoring 10 points is very small, only 389 (0.08%). There are 35,914 exams scoring above 8 (7.73%). The majority of exams scored from 4 to below 8 (399,112, 85.91%), reflecting the appropriateness of the exam questions.

The highest average score was in the range of 6-7 points with 105,903 candidates (22.08%). The second highest was 5-6 points with 97,848 candidates (21.06%). The score from 5 to 7 reached 385,461 papers (54.78%). The percentage of papers with below average scores (below 5) was high at 148,003 (31.86%), of which more than 31,000 papers were below 3 points and nearly 5,000 papers were 1 point or below.

According to the announced results, Math was the subject with the highest below-average score at 51.69%. Next were Geography (51.42%), Biology (50.41%). The percentage of below-average scores in English was 31.32%.

In general assessment of the quality survey results, Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that the score distribution showed clear differentiation, especially in the 3-9 score group, clearly reflecting the level of good, average and weak students. However, there is still a large number of weak students who need support.
